Of course there is no single trait unique to "pit bull dogs" - those are nothing specific, just random dogs, it is a meaningless term/category as AFF uses it. Might as well say "mixed breed dogs with medium length fur".

^YES "pit bull” dogs are not unique from all other dogs, nor are they uniformly the same as all the other dogs labeled “pit bull”..... Now I get it

In todays blog post from Best Friends, about Lucas, there is this: "Before Lucas and the rest of the Vicktory dogs came to Best Friends, the policy on dogs taken from fighting rings was that they be killed. That’s it. That was the policy – rescue them from the bad guys and then kill them. Other than Best Friends’ opposition, that policy was endorsed by the nation’s largest animal welfare organizations. After the Vicktory dogs, those policies and organizational positions changed in favor of every dog being treated and evaluated as an individual." I totally get what they mean. Each of the fight bust dogs got to be evaluated, instead of judged as a whole and condemned based on preconceived prejudices. I imagine they based their findings on what is known to be true about canine behavior, breed characteristics and common sense and experience. I think AFF has bastardized what it means to evaluate the individual dog. blogs.bestfriends.org/index.php/2013/06/20/vicktory-dog-lucas/

some people should be speutered.. i just read that link and my head is spinning.. i am glad that bust dogs get a chance at life now, but this whole individual shit just makes it worse.... the dog is not for everyone, hell half the people in the world shouldnt have kids. but this whole bandwagon is just making things worse for the breed especially when an incident happens... its just adding more fuel to the fire. why cant this whole shit just disappear... just fade away, let the breed fade away from the treehuggers(just the whole omg treat them as other dogs/individuals not what their genetics is about) and let people forget about the breed
