For I have performed a miracle. Actually, Inara has. Little Miss Bitchy Pants herself is hosting one of her doggy friends as we babysit him this weekend. She's walked with him on leash tons of times and they're great, but we've never let them off leash before, just because Inara is so temperamental. She'll flirt like a for about 5-10 seconds and then go all, "EFF YOU I HATE YOU AND I'M GOING TO KILL YOU RIGHT NOW!" in the blink of an eye. But since I'm dogsitting, I thought life would be easier if they could be out together part of the time, so we tried it last night. Went well! Bouncy, and WAY over the top exuberant, Inara was a little overwhelming for Dexter but he tolerated it well. I can't get the video to embed, but here is the link. So tonight he was dropped off by his mom. I let him just hang out alone with me for a while 'cause he was a little nervous about why his mom had left him. I fed him and then crated him while I fed Inara and Malcolm. After everybody had had time to digest, Mal got locked away (Dex is a cat killer) and I let the two dogs play. Play is kind of a strong word as I'm keeping it very under wraps and controlled since I'm here alone. But I got a shot of them being cute dogs:

Yay!!! Go Inara! You must be so proud. It's like when Luca was finally able to play with another dog (I have that video somewhere on FB). It was very low key play, but like...the BEST thing ever! I know how you feel.

Thanks all! I was almost as excited as Inara in the video, LOL. That makes a grand total of THREE dogs she can be off leash around now. I can't imagine we'll do play dates with Dex often just because their play styles really aren't compatible, but at least it can be done. I took both of them for a 15 minute walk this morning. Only did both because my neighborhood is super quiet at 6am - wouldn't do that in the evening.
