I love that dog's face. Glad to see someone finally helped him, but seriously, he laid there for 5 hours?! How sad

WTF is wrong with people. At least call someone??? How could you see an animal laying there like that and just do NOTHING. Even if you thought it was dead, you want a large dead animal just rotting on the side of the road?
Good on those cops!

I saw that some months ago. I just checked the facebook page, apparently the dog is still having not-so-minor helth problems.
A little OT... I was on the way to the shelter one Sunday morning many years ago when I came across a rottie lying in the middle of a well-traveled road. I pulled over to drag the carcass out of the road when it got up and jumped into the car. Took her to the shelter with me and six months later she got a home.
Zombie dog, go figure.

I didn't, at the time. I'm not a rottie person. Matter of fact, if some sort of canine calamity caused the extinction of every other dog except rotties, I would adopt a cat. So, after she jumped into the car (the driver's seat) I just sort of stood there wondering what to do. Thankfully she was a real sweetheart, and agreed to move over when I told her to. She was a very gracious passenger.

I've never warmed up to Rotties. I've eval'd a couple and I felt like I just couldn't get a good read on them. I love all dogs in theory, but I would not want one as a personal dog. I feel the same way about Bichons.

ME, of all the rotties from my shelter, I've met only one bad one. There were many, and although I liked them all I would not adopt any one. Like suzi wrote, I cannot get a read on them. I think it's the expressionless face, and the butt nubbin that seems to move the same no matter what. Although, there was one. Zeppelin, a lean 135 lb. boy whom everyone liked. He was pretty awesome. Good thread hijack, huh Michele?!

My friend's mom had a huge boy that was absolutely the sweetest mush dog ever. He was well over 100 lbs and really tall and just a big baby. I did like that dog.
