I have a full size futon bed currently set up in my room. Normally Maxine sleeps on this during the night, and then heads upstairs to bug my parents in the morning just about the time she decides that she needs breakfast and to go outside.
The past couple of weeks though she's been avoiding the futon in favor of either sleeping upstairs all the time despite the summer heat, or else attempting to cuddle up on my twin sized bed.
I now have a theory.
This morning I figured it was time to wash all my bedding/the futon bedding. Got everything washed, line dried in the sun, un-dog-furred and back where it belonged only to have little Miss Princess jump up and flop down happily on the futon. She's now been there all evening.
Apparently I wasn't keeping up the wash enough to her standards.
And this from the dog that cowers in terror every time the word 'bath' is mentioned.
