we noticed recently that all of palace's toe nails are turning brown from the cuticle area. on first glance we thought it was blood but it seems like maybe they are just turning from white/pinkish color to brown. she is a brown and white dog but i just thought it was strange that they started to change out of the blue. she is acting normal and still walks and runs around my wife takes her on runs. she's probably around 4. has anyone else ever had a dog that this happened with?

Could be a yeast problem. Normally dogs with allergies have this type of nail color

The same thing happened to several of my dogs, most recently Lola. I couldn't connect it to anything at all. I stopped wondering long ago.

Is the nail itself changing color or is it something that you can scrape off the nail? If you can scrape it off, it could be a yeast or allergy issue like ME suggested. If the nail itself is changing color, its probably nothing. Saxon had all pink toenails when he was a puppy, now one or two is turning black. Just like his belly used to be all pink, but has gained more and more black spots has he's aged.

If its yeast or allergy it wil be inside the nail

Ditto to what everyone said above. I've had dogs with changing nail colors. One was a yeast thing, another was just I guess a natural change in color.

Rockuy also had all wjhite pinkish nails many turned black some are half half about all have had partial if not full color change. As his spotts increased he started to get spots on his pink pads then the nails got color.

no she hasn't really been licking them and I couldn't scrape anything off of them. she used to break a lot of nails but lately not as many. probably not related though.

IDK but I swear some of the nails that broke on Rocky are some of the ones that changed color. One is completely black.
