I've been MIA for a while, this summer was crazy as I was taking an EMT class and then after class ended we took an overseas trip and now that I'm back, I've started 2 classes (per-requirements for a nursing program) so I've been a bit busy! But I wanted to share some pictures and some updates! Louie is still a special little boy, but we've had some major milestones lately. When we came back from our trip, he picked up a ball and played with it for a few seconds. Squished it around in his mouth. He's spent more time sitting on the couch, and has been watching me meal prep and occasionally drooling! He also will eat treats I toss towards him during meal prep, and is taking more treats from my hands (only "familiar" treats, not new ones). The other day, he ate a treat I placed on the deck, which is a big deal because the deck and the back yard have been a source of fear for him for a while. And, I've discovered that pointing the phone/camera at him is only acceptable when I'm also pointing it at the other dogs.... him alone is scary. But here's a shot of all 3 pups, Louie actually looks sort of relaxed!! Here's a picture of my two knuckleheads rolling in the grass And here is a photo from our trip, we went to Cambodia and Myanmar. This picture is from Bagan, Myanmar... basically, there are about 3000 ancient Pagodas/Temples still standing and that's what we went to see. This is from the top of one of the larger ones, where you can basically see Pagodas in every possible direction!

Thanks guys I will definitely post some more pictures of the trip when I get some time. I'm thinking next week some time I will have some more time to go through them. I've got a quiz Monday morning in chemistry that I will be spending most of the weekend prepping for. And I am pretty psyched about Louie's progress.... It's only taken a year+, but I'm just thrilled that he is happier and starting to act a bit dog-ish!

I'm still working on getting pictures up for my trip.... have been inundated with tests at school so haven't had the time to go through them yet! I didn't forget that you want to see more though

OKAY the pictures are finally up! I uploaded all of them to photobucket for simplicities sake.... there are a lot (and that's probably only 1/4 of them ) but I figure I'm only there once so I might as well get as many pictures as I can! Here's the link, it should be public. You can view as many or as few as you'd like! s1328.photobucket.com/user/ttio/library/CandM

It broke my heart too, Melonie There were 4 or 5 of them just out of reach of one another, and they were pacing as long as the chains would let them, which was literally all of 1.5 steps for an elephant. The one was "pacing" as best she could.... She'd take a step and a half, and then walk backwards a step and a half, rinse and repeat. She was pretty zoned out, and felt like watching an animal go insane. It is sad, the people are so proud of their "White Elephants" that they want to show them to tourists, but they don't realize what they are doing to them by keeping them chained up like that. And as much as I enjoy seeing the culture and people of other places... I have a hard time ignoring the treatment of animals while I'm overseas. My other half yells at me all the time because he says I'm a downer when I'm capturing pictures of elephants chained up, or as was the case in other countries, starving cows tied to stakes in the ground while more than enough food rotted away in the streets, or stray dogs and cats running off, tails tucked, while humans try to throw rocks at them, etc... It's a fine line.... I enjoy the trips we take but I can't help but attempt to be honest about what I see. Certainly, the places are beautiful and there are some amazing sights to see, but no where is perfect and I hate to look back and my pictures and see "perfection" without remembering exactly what I saw.

Thank you for the pix! Those are some really great shots, I enjoyed all the Buddha statues. The elephant pic was really sad, but I agree with you in wanting to capture/document what you see and not just a cleaned up version.

I agree, there are a lot of differences between cultures, capturing that difference is the only way to truly educate our kids. I would much rather have documented the 'true' reality vs the tourism reality.
