15 Breeds New Owners Should Avoid

The APBT got "honorable mention" and is at the bottom of the list. Funny, there are other breeds on this list that would IMO be way easier to own. Apparently the authors got a lot of votes for the APBT as a GOOD first time owner breed. How much ya wanna bet a lot of those people who vote don't have actual APBTs but "shelter pits" aka PitMixes or dogs that aren't even Pit Bulls?

Mine's a shelter pit and quite a handful and I've already owned an Akita, who was first on the list!

Oh I didn't mean to imply that dogs from shelters wouldn't be "real" Pit Bulls or a handful, too. I just was referring to the trend now to call everything from a shelter a "pit bull" even when it's an obvious mix. So a lot of people get these faux-"pit bulls" and think they are experts when they don't actually have any real experience with purebred Pit Bulls.

There are def some great "real" Pit Bulls in shelters!

Oh I know. We have no idea what she's mixed with another than she's a big doofus. She's not a handful in the same way i read about other's post here. I think she's just mixed with something that happens to have a WHOLE lot of energy

The Akita I owned before her was also a mix, but had a lot more of the traditional Akita traits and I wouldn't even recommend a mix to new owners
