Lola is freaking me out lately.
This past full moon, the girls were intensely interested in each other. So much so that I had to put up visual barriers between them, in addition to the always present double barriers. Lola has been very bouncy lately, which I thought was a good thing since she's an "elderbull" and had been kind of, well, old acting for a while. You know, sleeping a lot, not interested in things, etc.
Three weeks ago I changed their diet from kibble and cooked to raw, and she has been very active. Always wagging her tail, looking very bright and interested, happy and active. I have no idea how old she is, but I've had her for seven years and she was no spring chicken when she came home. I judge her to be at least ten years old and maybe more, since she really has lost muscle mass in her head and back over the last couple years.
The thing is, tonight I was loving up Rocky and Lola, and as I was rubbing Lola, Rocky tried to horn in. It's not unusual as he does it all the time, but it was never an issue. However, tonight Lola was focusing on Rocky when I was petting her as he was trying to push in on the action. It made me nervous, and because I though I might be telegraphing my emotions, I crated Lola. I was VERY nervous.
These two have never, I mean NEVER had an issue. They are not bonded in that they velcro each other, but they have always been 150% compatible. Now I find myself wondering if I need to C&R Lola and Rocky. I know that attention to one can be a trigger. But I really can't C&R three dogs here. Anyone have any input here? Ask questions... because I need answers.
