Well I did it again - fell in love with a dog I had never met. When I saw her Facebook post I emailed the shelter in southern NJ to ask if they had any approved rescues on northern NJ. They responded that A Home Fur Now Rescue on Long Island had reserved her. I contacted the rescue, got approved, and the plan was for us to foster her after the rescue's vet checked her out. It has been all downhill since then and I have become more and more attached to her.
She now has her own Facebook page www.facebook.com/pages/Fur-The-Love-Of-Sweet-Pea/163891903806247

Sweet Pea: This beautiful tan and white 5 year old female was released by her owner. Although a court case is pending, since she was released she is immediately available for rescue placement. We would like to see her in a rescue ASAP. She has a very sweet and gentle temperament. Very affectionate and loving. She just arrived recently so she has not been food/cat/dog tested but we are working on this. Since space has been consistently a problem this year with releases and strays constantly filling the shelter, we are hoping to begin working on a rescue placement for her, please contact CCSPCA_Foster@.com with any questions about this sweet girl! At this point we are seeking rescue for Sweet Pea because she is not in condition yet to be spayed and adopted.

Is everyone ready for a Sweet Pea update!?!! Are you sitting down?!?! After a long visit with the amazing Dr. Casey last night, we have found that poor Sweet Pea has quite the list of things going on Aside from being horribly emaciated, she is anemic, has not one, but two tick borne diseases (Lymes & Anaplasmosis), a broken femur & hip that is out of socket, which appears to be an old injury & will ultimately result in having to amputate her leg down the road, AND lastly but certainly not least, there is concern that she is pregnant. With regard to the pregnancy, it's very hard to tell at this point & we have a follow up appointment next week. This poor, sweet girl has endured quite a lot in her 5yrs of life, her X-rays even showed BBs, indicating she has been shot with a BB gun After all Sweet Pea has been through, her tail never stops wagging!!! She is the sweetest, most loving girl! Sweet Pea has a long road ahead of her to recovery & we are taking every necessary measure to get her healthy & ensure that she's knows nothing but love & happiness for the rest of her life.

Hello, Sweet Pea's foster mommy here. It is with a heavy heart that I must share this news with you. Sweet Pea's ultrasound results are in & she has cancer . Heartbreakingly, the current diagnosis is that it's terminal & cannot be treated. Her body cannot undergo any aggressive form of treatment in its current state & even if she was stronger, the possibilities of treatment to help her are dim. I will be consulting with her veterinarian tomorrow to go over all options. I made a promise to Sweet Pea the very first moment I looked into her eyes that she will never again suffer a single second of her life & I intend to keep that promise. Myself & her aunties are devastated over this news, what was supposed to be the start of a new, wonderful life filled with love & happiness, will now be cut far too short. We are so sorry Sweets, you deserved so much better than this. Please pray for our girl.....
