Meet Karma! Meet her babies! This Pit/Shepherd Mix has been in my care for about 3 months now. Shes with me in 'protective custody' more or less. She was taken away from her owner this past JUNE along with a litter of puppies she was nursing. She was severly underweight, her and her pups were living in a urine/feces filled crate, the puppies had skin worn off due to the living conditions. She was taken by police and given to a very good rescue friend of mine, once her pups were weaned she joined me! Heres her condition when taken--- And her babies Well theres been trial after trial about Karma and her babies over the past 5 months. The owner decided that he didnt want to fight for the pups and released them so they could go up for adoption but he has been fighting this entire time for poor Karma. Karma is a mess.. Shes severely hand shy, very kennel aggessive and aggressive on a tie out/chain to the point shell go after people, kids, or other animals. She has come SOOO far while in my care. Well today I just found out, her owner is getting custody back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!? The owner had a male Shepherd (Father of the pups) that was just PTS for attacking a neighborhood kid and they are giving Karma back to him??? The guy that beat her, starved her and her babies. Seriously?! I am sending the county attourney a 'nice' email. Another one of those situations that makes me want to say to hell with it.

Wow That's unbelievable that they are giving her back to him. Were you apart of the trials, to discuss her behavioral issues and challenges due to his abuse and neglect?

Really messed up!! If he was relinquished what right does the owner still have? Did he sign anything giving up ownership?

Oh sorry I misunderstood. I thought he relinquished her as well. It is insane after seeing her before pics that anyone in their right mind would think she should be returned to owner.

I dont understand how any dog that is confinscated more or less due to abuse and neglect can end up with that same person. The entire situation is unbelieveable. I never would have dreamed hed win the case. It breaks my heart.

The situation that a pit bull litter was found in here was deplorable. The guy gave up his pup, but not the momma dog. Long story short, if a situation like this was ever found again, the shelter or the police are to call the state and have the inspector come out (the ones who inspect us, and other 'kennels'). Apparently they can do more to the person at the state level. You might try and contact someone at that level?

Im sorry Michele, IDK what you mean Melonie, I will definetly try that. I have video on her behaviors in the beginning and video now showing how far she's come. It's so hard. Everytime I look at her she makes me want to cry. She's doing sooo well in my care. I was hoping shed get released, I'd continue training her then find her a perfect, understanding, POSITIVE training home because that's what she needs. Any punishments or corrections would send her straight back to her old self.
