Sorry I haven't been on here in what feels like ages. Been very hectic at home as you can imagine. What's going on with everyone, the dogs, etc? What were your holidays like, anything interesting going on in terms of your work/life with Pit Bulls? Let's chit chat!

Hi Mary!!! Hope you're enjoying your time with your new little one. Took Dharma and Lebowski in to the vet over the weekend to get some new lumps aspirated. Bowski's was a blood blister type of thing and benign. Dharma's were normal - no new mast cells! All the dogs have been exceptionally lazy this winter, and have not wanted to emerge from their blanket caves. Although Brandy does like to bounce like Tigger in the snow, which is adorable.

Awww I'm glad the dogs are ok and no more mast cells. YAY! I miss snuggling with pups during the cold weather, but Mara is pretty snuggly herself.

I'll fill you in on a bitchy Redbone Coonhound momma dog later after work. How do you like motherhood? My sister is on the fence, but she's had a rocky first few weeks. She did say she'd rather bring home a puppy than a baby. *lol* less hormonal fall out and tears. Luckily her baby is not too fussy. Hopefully that gorgeous baby girl of yours isn't being too hard on you.

OK can't wait for the update lol!
Motherhood is definitely an adjustment. It's been rough for a variety of reasons. Mara is basically really good though. I don't have anything to compare her to, but everyone tells me she is a really good baby. I'm keeping the hormones in check. So far!

It's good to hear you have a 'good' baby. Makes life with baby easier to adjust to I think. I can remember holding my 6 week old baby, she was crying, I was crying and saying... what do you want from me? lol It seemed nothing I did was good enough. She's now 21 and still nothing is good enough. lol just kidding. I took River with me when I went to my sisters. The night I got there it was too late in the evening, and too cold outside to do re- introductions with the other dogs. (Chet-10, Brody-4, Charlotte-8, Walker same age as River)They did get to see each other at the fence and had a great time. River was in kitty cat heaven and enjoyed slobbering all over the mentally challenged cats. (seriously, what kind of cats lay down and take being mauled by dogs? lol) The next day River and Walker played out in the fenced area for the dogs. They did fine together. Then we introduced River back to her mom. Charlotte turned the bitch switch and we had a bit of chaos trying to get River away from her. River went all submissive, rolled to her back, but Char just kept growling and being a bully. She recognized who Charlotte was and wanted so badly to get to her, I took a paw to the eye that cut my cheek and eye brow, while trying to get River under control. Charlotte is just a queen and won't suffer even a 15 week old female offspring! I like her, but I don't, if that makes sense. She is a very bossy, intense dog! Over the course of the remaining 3 days, River got to play with her brother, and tried to play with Brody, he'd sort of play but he'd rather wrestle with Chet. Chet is too old to play with puppyies and grumbles at them when they get wound up and try to engage him. But he didn't have a problem snuggling in with her for a nap. My sister was all set to breast feed her baby, but in the end was unable to. She also had to have a c-section. So on top of feeling physically crappy, she was also feeling like she failed in feeding her baby, plus the initial lack of sleep.. turned her into a basket case for a few days. We had some good talk time, and it helped.

I am glad to hear things are going well and getting even better. I am so happy you are loving life with your little girl take it slow each day as it all goes way too fast. I cant even deal with it that my boys grew up this fast. It actually haunts me to think about how I should have done this or that while I had the chance as it just went too fast and now they are adults and I sometimes cant even remember them being children like years of their life have not left an image they just moved on to big kids and all I remember is the yelling and complaining about them. so Cherish every moment and you are so lucky to be in this tech age where we record everything. I have not been on this site much at all. I cant even remember the last time I checked in on this page. Things are just so busy and I have had different priorities I guess. I finally decided that it is more important to worry about what my Husband and I as well as the kids are eating then what the dog is eating! I some what moved off the dog stuff and onto researching more about health and my ancestry. I am gearing up to do a presentation at the library on my Family Tree. I became fascinated when I learned I am actually of Italian decent. This I was totally clueless of and would never have even guessed it. I dont know why it was such a big secret. I know at one time it was not so hot to be Italian, which is my assumption as to why my grandmother never informed my dad about his grandfather being an Italian immigrant. SO I have been quite busy with learning more about that side of my family as they were a most fascinating group of music entertainers. I dont know how I will ever be ready for the presentation as every day passes and I have gotten little done. Rocky is well still has all his lumps and bumps as I opted out of surgery at this time. They still look and feel the same and he has gotten quite a few new ones. He escaped the yard a few weeks back, the snow drift was so high (I was unaware) in a far corner of the yard that he just walked over the fence. I went to call him in after being out just a few min and there was a knock on the door at 7:30am which is crazy. So my son and I looked out the window to see if we saw a car and all we saw was Rocky's tail wagging and we both looked at each other and said "Rocky is knocking on the door?". It was my neighbors daughter who was just leaving for college and luckily he was in her driveway and ran right up to her when she said his name. I had no idea he was out there. Later we put on our boots and investigated to find the footprints go over the fence and down the road. Thank god I live on a private dead end. For at least a week he was having to go out on a long lead and he was pissed that he could not poop down in his corner. Such a creature of habit. So next warm day I ran to home depot and got a piece of metal fence to attach on top of the other fence to make it even higher in that corner. and blockaded any other areas that could be an escape route. Then the last warm day I went on poop clean up I found a huge hole off of my deck. I thought Rocky took up digging. This hole looked scary deep that it sort of looked like a sink hole. I called my son to take a look at he thought I was nuts. He was like OH MOM probably an animal dug a hole. So he went and got a flashlight and looked in and said...OMG that is deep..OH NO it is septic! Our friggen septic is collapsing! from the weight of the snow we shoveled off the deck and onto the lawn. Since our area is so wet, 23 years ago I dont know but suspect plastic tanks were not available and a concrete tank can not be brought in or the truck will sink. So a metal tank was installed and it is just passed life expectancy. But good god thank goodness I went on yard detail and was just looking around on a warm day because someone could have fallen in. So for now that had to be blockaded too as we can do anything until the snow melts and it dries up. Which will be at least June. So for now I am in a world of SH*t but at the same time feeling blessed and grateful that all is good but I sure do wish I was getting new kitchen cabinets and flooring instead of a new septic tank. The story of our life of living in a house from day 1. But I have a house and was able to be a stay at home mom all this time so I just better shut up now!

Bumpity bump!
Where is everyone?? Been kinda quiet, although I notice we are still one of the most active Pit Bull forums on the web. I hope as we roll into spring, we can kick start some discussion. I have a feeling a lot of people have migrated from forums onto FB groups, though.
