So my cousin Christina and her husband just adopted this little sweetie from a friend, I believe, who had previously adopted the dog. Not sure what the backstory is yet. Her name is Melody. The funny thing is, I am the only real dog person in my family, let alone the only person who had Pit Bulls which until I brought them around, were seen as evil vicious monsters. Now to have another family member with a Pit Bull (while I don't even currently have one! ) is super weird.

I understand and I'm sorry you're going through this! Is she a dog you'll be able to visit? That could be a nice way to get your Pit Bull fix! She's super cute!

Thanks, Cat. Yes, I'll be able to see her. I have been meaning to go visit my cousins. Also, my friend who lives below me in the building has a Pit Bull mix so I've been getting a little bit of a fix that way as well.

Well, I talked to my breeder last night and they are just waiting for their bitch to come into heat, most likely in Mid April. So.........I'm just waiting, like I've been doing for the last year.

I broke the news to a friend of mine who is a big rescue supporter/has all rescue dogs, that I wouldn't be rescuing my next dog, I'd be getting him from a breeder. Ugh - THAT was an awkward conversation. I tried to explain that due to the fact that I show dogs, I needed one from a breeder as I planned on continuing showing with this new dog. I don't think she quite got it.

I think because of RPB and the fact I'm so outspoken about rescue in general, people just assume I'm getting a rescue. There are nuances though that are hard to relay in casual conversation, and even so, once I explain myself, people still don't see eye to eye with me. I actually got in a fight with another friend when she found out I was getting a pup from a breeder, and we didn't speak for several months.
