A sad morning in the Hudson Valley region of New York. A fire early this morning in a rear kennel area has taken the life of several dogs. Their building also has been destroyed and they are seeking foster homes. I had volunteered walking dogs at this shelter on a few occasions. They also had a little thrift store to raise money at one time. I am not sure if that was still active. I feel horrible for their loss. But I know the people of the Hudson Valley will come out in full force to help in any way they can. This is truly a difficult loss for this area as this shelter located near an area where there is quite the problem with Street Pit Bulls and Dog fighting as well big gang activity. The shelter this morning was desperate for foster homes to come forward. However reported on their facebook that they can no longer take messages via PM or email about foster homes they are just to busy to read and respond. Anyone interested in fostering should go directly to the site which is manned at this time. The most recent report on facebook-"We are overwhelmed by the willingness of the community to offer foster homes. At this time, we need to place only a few more in order to get down to a number that we can shelter tonight. They are all LARGE dogs. Thank you to everyone!!!" I sure hope they have a rapid recovery from this disaster. link to facebook announcement of fire on their facebook page link Hudson Valley SPCA Law Enforcement Website TO give go here; link

from facebook page "We lost Harley and Johnny in today's fire. They were long-time residents here at the HVSPCA, and it is heartbreaking to know that their forever homes didn't come in time. Five more dogs are at Flannery's with smoke inhalation and burns. But they will be OK! We lost our back kennel - housing for 35 dogs - but we will rebuild. We pray for those souls who were lost and have to be grateful that the losses weren't larger than this." www.petcaring.com/nonprofits/shelter-fires-leaves-the-hvspca-in-desperate-need/37725
