Saturday, May 3rd, is the first annual National Positive Dog Training Day. It will be held each first Saturday of May, annually. This is just a little project I am working on to help support and promote positive interactions with dogs and people.
I'll post more info soon, but this year will be minimal in terms of celebration on my end, just because the event is so new and coming up fast. I hope each year that this grows and other trainers and individuals use this as a means of promotion.

I think its a great idea. I find myself defending positive dog training rather often with a friend of mine. Having a resource from rpb to refer to will be a nice asset. Hopefully you can help distinguish how a good trainer uses pr from the extremists on either side of the spectrum.  Sent from my SM-G730V using proboards |

The last conversation we had, I tried to explain that with any any training method there is a balance. I think he was under the impression that positive training is never saying no.
I gave him the link to the article "Why I train Dogs the way I do" Since it came from the point of view of someone who 'converted'. I told him to read Karen Pryor, Suzanne Clothier, Grisha Stewart before passing judgement on this form of training.
In another conversation I pointed out that utilizing ceasers tactics, (I call it fear and intimidation), would in no way work with a lot of the dogs I come across.
River would sh!t/pee herself, Kicking Snow in the ribs, would rightfully get you bit. Thinking back on some of the other dogs, it just wouldn't work.
I've also told him to sign up here to talk to people who know what they're talking about and quit reading reddit... I don't know if he has or not.
