I went to my neighbors house for twenty minutes. When I came home Bella was bleeding badly. I don't know how she did it be she broke a window propped up against the wall next to my dryer. I thought it was out of the way. She cut her femoral artery. She was rushed into surgery. The Vet called and said she made it thru surgery. That she is good for now. The cut was very deep and she will be keeping an eye on her. I'm so glad I wasn't gone any longer. The house looked like a massacre took place. Blood from the front door thru the living room. The other dogs are traumatized. The old dog Zoe was sitting at the broken bloody window and just staring at it. Another was in the basement in a cubby hole and didn't want to come out. Please keep positive thoughts for her. Hoping she will be okay and will get to come home tomorrow. Things happen so fast...

Thank you! Just spoke to the vet. She said she's bouncy and once she checks her out she may be able to come home! I was driving them a little nuts kept calling and getting answering machine. 3rd call the vet herself answered "Ruthie?" I was like yes..she said they are all just getting in...its been a long night I just couldn't wait for them to call me. So glad she is okay...can't wait to bring her home!!! Thanks again!

OMG how scary!! I am so glad she is doing well.
These dogs get into everything and anything at any given moment.
Give her a hug for me and keep us posted.

How scary! But I agree with Michele, dogs have a knack of getting into trouble no matter how hard you try. So happy she is going to be ok. Give the other pups an extra hug, poor little guys!

Thanks everyone! She's in the recliner sleeping as I type this...so many stitches..the vet said she will be sore for awhile. I just gave her the pain meds and antibiotics. Still baffled how she managed to get to that window. The other dogs are so happy she is home too...going to make sure storm windows are put away right away for now on!!! So glad I found this board! Thanks so much for the support!

Oh no, poor Bella! Glad she is home recovering now. Ugh, that is so scary. Like the others said, these dogs will get into anything and everything. You may consider crating her while you're not home, to keep her safe. I've had a couple of extremely destructive dogs that were able to break out of regular crates, so please let me know if you need "extra strength" crate recommendations!

^ Yes Suzi! I would for sure crate her when you are not home. Protects her and gives you peace of mind.

Good idea to put her in the spare room. I think we can all relate to aging prematurely due to our dogs. Harley has certainly been responsible for many stressful occasions!
