Having gone through a period when my dad was dying and now having my very elderly mom live in my town, I completely emphasize with Jessup's need to focus on a few essentials. Whether or not you're a fan of her, or of her program, this is an intensely personal decision. She can always start the program up again (but she'll have to figure out that she can't have it both ways: if she wants funding, she HAS to be open about her program and she has to go ask for money. If she wants to be a "one man band" she has to fund it herself). I assume she is taking care of all the dogs she has.

I can absolutely sympathize with her, no doubt. However, I am kinda surpised she didn't secure the future of the org, i.e. form a board, etc. I guess she really was a one woman show. She def needs to learn to start asking for money in the future if she is going to be picking this up again.

what is she going to do with the pups she has now? why do you assume she is "going to do" anything with them? And why would it be anyone's business, anyway?

Well, when you are in the spotlight/public eye the way she is, and promoting this organization of hers, of course the first thing people are gonna ask is, "What is going to happen to the dogs?" I think people who supported and gave any sort of contribution have a right to ask.

i was just curious.. thats all.. when my father died , i had to close my rescue down to care for my sick mother.. so i know what its like to have to take on responsiblities that pop up.. i couldnt do rescue, take care of my house/husband/personal dogs and my mother at the same time as i work full time, so i had to close my rescue down.

Well, I think that's pretty much what she posted. She hasn't taken in rescues for awhile now; at least as far as what she's posted. She was focusing on breeding her own performance line. I find it impossible to believe that she wouldn't continue to care for her own adult dogs and puppies, or to find temporary homes for them. I know that there are people whose hatred of her is so intense they probably think otherwise. But bottom line, as you note: people, especially family, come first. When your parents are sick (I've been there, too), your dogs may not get the attention they're used to.

if it wasnt for me having a husband to help out, my dogs would have been alone way too much.... i was going right from work to my moms, and coming home late at night and spending all weekend with her and coming home late at night, my husband was on his own with the house and dogs for an entire year while i spent all my free time at my moms.. with hubby i didnt have to worry that much, but when youre single, its harder and then you feel guilty on both ends... hopefully she has someone that can help her when she is taking care of her folks so that it doesnt weigh on her mind the dogs and the parents at the same time, as that is really stressful...
