I really try to stay out of a lot of the shelter politics and drama. I do a lot of eye rolling, and calling people out when they're being idiots.
The latest round of wtf, is coming from a vet. This vet, while she's good for spay/neuter/vacc, she's not much use for anything else when it comes to small animals. She is afraid of large dogs, anything above a beagle really. So she won't fix those, but she will do the rabies. From personal experience, if you have anything wrong w/ your animal, even something simple, you go to another vet. The latest thing she has told the board not to do is to allow dogs to share outside buckets of water. Do not leave them outside as they will attract mosquitos and make the dogs sick. Now, each kennel is not a 'room' unto itself. The cages don't go all the way to the floor. The dogs steal toys, bedding, and whatever else they can from the other dog. Food gets spilled and rolls under the other kennel. Same with pee, and anything else. Cross contamination happens at every point. The dogs share the outside kennels throughout the day. Poop is scooped after each shift except the very late shift.
As for the mosquitoes, dump the buckets every evening and set out new ones in the morning. The water would not be sitting there to stagnate! The am shift already dumps all buckets and refills as it is.
I'm just ranting. I'm annoyed.

Oh I almost forgot. We keep a bowl of water in the office for the dogs... That seems to be looked over!

So I replied to the emails about the water bucket issue with my observations. I also posted how parasites are transferred, and about the water born illnesses I could find. Email silence.

Yeah. She is weird. We take all of our big dogs to my vet. I don't know that ahe would turn away a customer with a large dog like a lab, but I know she would turn away a customer with a pit because she is afraid of them.
