I learned something tonight. That damndog isn't as dumb as she lets on. I did not yell. I didn't . I found this after the fact, so I knew it would not do a bit of good. However, when I was cleaning up I used a very pissed or stern tone of voice to make her get off my bed...out of my room. Later I used it to make her go to her chair. It just irks me that I have to be seething inside to get her to do what she has been trained to do. 'off, out, and spot'

And where were you when she was destroying the mattress? Was she loose and unattended? You really need to either crate her or leash her of you cant watch her as she cant be trusted. I feel your pain, when rufus was growing up he would destroy stuff like river did if i didnt have him under my eye. It took my trainer telling me numerous times to either leash him to me or crate him before i actually listened lol..

I was most likely in the next room if I was at home. I have no idea when she did it though. I only noticed when I went to put sheets on my bed. Aryn and Nic had been playing w/ her on my bed earlier in the day and River peed on it. So she tossed the bedding in the wash. I have no idea why she peed. Either she was too excited, or Nic scared her. It doesn't take much for a male to scare her though. The dogs no longer have access to my room unless it's bedtime. They have the dog room, living room and kitchen. River does hang out in the dog room, but the only crate open is hers because she will tear up the boys' beds. She is getting better about tearing shit up. But she has her moments. More so when the weather is bad and she can't be outside as much.
I can't believe Rufus was ever a naughty dog.

You need to tell aryn too river must be crated or leashed if they cant watch her. Oh rufus was Very bad- 9 deck spindles. Numerous aluminum foil trays from grill, entire pens ink and all , shoes, sunglasses, xmas ornaments that were not replaceable, toilet paper in the bathroom, carpeting. The list is very long. He wasn't trusted until he was 5 years old.. Yep thst old. Even now i have to keep an eye on him occasionally at 12, but growing up omfg he was way worse then river.... He destroyed a comforter when my parents babsat the dogs for me once, i told them never let him out of your sight , they ignored me and e shredded a $100 comforter.. I know its a pain but you and aryn have to leash her /crate or tether her if you cant watch her 24/7... I learned after a while lol

And it sucks to hear it, but its your fault or Aryns for not watching her... I too have to take full blame when rufus destroys stuff cause i know better lol.he ate my boyfriends sandal last year and it was his fault for leaving them laying around, i warned him lol to put all chewable items out of reach, or when he put a pork roast on the stove and went outside, i was gone 14't min next door and came home to rufus licking an empty dish..... He stood on hind legs and used front paws to pull dish to edge so he could eat the pork loin....

Winston is 6 or 7 and can't be trusted. Cleveland can be trusted so long as the trash is not accessible. I know it's the humans fault. Rivers mother is 8 and destroyed a sofa shortly before they moved to the farm last year. I imagine this might be a lifelong issue. Aryn is supposed to take her when she moves, since it is her dog. Part of me can't wait. She would probably do a lot better if we lived out on a farm where she could do something more than be a house dog.
