Well as always I go for broke. We brought him home the day he was fixed. Of course no strenuous activity. I brought him in the backyard and led Sophie through the house...and held my breath. He was checking out the yard and she walked up to him and went into a play bow. Maybe he was alittle tight there but they did play together perfectly! He's stronger but she's faster so it does work out. He was about 2 years and her about 8 at the time and they maintain a puppy/Mommy relationship even now.
Of course adding a new pup isn't easy. That same day my son left the front door unlatched. Somebody used their big old head to make a run for it. So much for still being woozy. Of course the local police were thrilled when I called in a panic that a male pit was missing.
We were blessed, as we were driving around looking for him a neighbor called the cell. They had lured him into their house with salami and read his tags. Happy first day home...it was an adjustment but you learn. And that front door has a double, head proof lock on it now heeheehee
