As I pulled up to the mail box today and got out of my car, I heard the unmistakable noise of two dogs fighting. Not the play fighting, the real fighting. I quickly jumped back in my car and pulled into his driveway and ran around the side of the house. I yelled at the dogs, but that wasn't enough to distract, so I ran and grabbed the hose. It took a bit, but it worked.
The momma dog and puppy (around 6 or 8 mos) were fighting. Once they stopped, the puppy was able to get away and came to the gate. Momma is chained up in the kennel as she will escape.
I let the pup out and called around to get the owners phone number. He was on his way home, but first had to stop by the police dept.
Apparently someone tried to break into his house last night while he was gone. His roommates girlfriend was home though. The person attacked the momma dog, and when the girlfriend heard the commotion, she went out to see what was going on. The person then attacked her.
I put pup in a different kennel with some food and water, and decided to give momma some food too. The last time I was around her, no one was home, and she was guarding her home. I didn't push it because I didn't want to get bit. So I was cautious. Her reaction to be broke my effing heart. She was completely submissive. Giving so many calming signals. I gave her the food, and she gobbled it up.
I will not get started on the many many issues I have with the neighbor. I want the effer that beat that dog last night to get his a$$ beat down. But most of all, I would love to see the neighbor re-home both of those dogs.
