I had 4 goldfish in my 37 gal tank. I lost one after i got them moved to my house last year. This weekend i lost another one , apparently it got stuck in my fake plastic plants in the tank. Needless to say i ripped out all fake plants except two that the fish cant get stuck in. Now i have 2 goldfish left in my 37 gal.

That sucks. I have been wary of adding plastic plants. I have silk right now, but need more. I worry about fins getting snagged, so decor is at a minimum until I can get to a petco. I'm going to try and do live plants sometime soon too.

Especially with your new fish- their fins can get caught too quickly in plants. When i had live plants in my 55 gal imade sure they were not going to get caught on my fish fins. I kept them sparingly in my tank . Plus no plants gives the fish more swim room, i just added more rocks and caves and stuff like that. Have you thought about getting a 55 gal and dividing it in two sections for your fish? This way one filter one heater and much easier ... They have dividers too and you can decorate them so the fish cant see each other.. Yet both be in the same tank

My dad gave me his 30g. I'm going to split that between the two. I found a how to vid on how to make the divider. I'm also buying a friends 65g. But it'll be a couple months before I get it. Not a priority right now.
The bettas do like their silk plant and will either hide under it or rest on the leaves. They're currently in 2g glass anchor hocking containers w/ heaters. The filters should be here tomorrow.

Black taihitan moon sand is the way to go in a tropical tank. I had it in my 55 and it brought out the fish colors

My other two bettas are doing great. I had hoped to set up the 30g this weekend, but my sister isn't coming for Kais party. So I won't get the tank until next month. But they're each in 2g tanks with heat and filter and doing fine.
