Rufus is now afraid of Angel:( she chirps and he hides.. I have been working with him but he shuts down so fast as soon as she moves he shuts down.

Me too, Dave and the breeder thinks maybe ear issue . I am taking him to the vet next week. He is a strange dog- once something scares him it sticks for life - no amount of conditioning can work him thru it:( as he has gotten older he gets more fearful its really sad and confusing as he was a great therapy dog- nothing bothered him and he was bombproof at therapy work at all the places we went.. I just cant figure it out

Sorry to hear that you are having some issues with Rufus. Hopefully the vet can shed some light on the situation.

Zanax is his new best friend lol.... One pill a day has taken the edge off his noise sensitivity issues. Its not a cure - its just a bandaid to help him deal with various high weird pitch noises.. He still reacts, but not as bad... Lovebird was returned and I'm just going to wait to add any other larger birds .. I might pick up a few canaries or parakeets in the spring time

You got bitten by the bird bug. Be careful, you'll end up like me! I had eight at one time.
Glad things are better.

I've always loved birds lol, but yeah the big bird bug has bitten lol. I look at it this way, i have 3 extra large cages that are empty ... No sense in having empty cages around might as well fill them hahaha... Big screechy birds have to wait until rufus is gone as i dont think there is enough zanax to help him with that lol... Small birds like canaries that sing are doable

I was at the farm store and the two parakeets were chirping , not too loud not too low. I wish i could take some home on a trial basis to see if they affect rufus
