Well, I guess I'll let everyone know that as of 2/20 I will be officially leaving my office job to a) be home with Mara, and b) finally move full time into dogs (training, working with rescues/shelters, etc). I'll be limited at first with what I can do in terms of work due to Mara still being so young, but as she gets older and especially once she starts pre-k, I'll be finally able to focus my efforts on dogs without the fulltime office drudge holding me back. Just wanted to share with you all.

Thanks Suzi and Dave! I'll keep you updated as things progress. For now, I'm training on weekends, doing phone and email consults, and distance reiki. I have all sorts of ideas and I'm working on my business plan now.

I had my daughter talk to my vet about Rivers anxiety and fear. The things we've done to help her are not enough. she is terribly afraid of my daughters boyfriend, all he ever did was startle her one time when he scolded the boys. Since then she's terrified of him. She hears him and she hides, goes through every sort of calming signal you can think of. She pants, shakes off, hides, etc. I've had him feed her high value noms. She'll take them like a shark and run away. I've tried other ways of re-associating him with the goo, but she's a nut case. She is already a timid fearful dog, and I've never tried to 'flood' her. I let her take her time and often once she is used to something she will be alright with it. Be it noise, new people or a new object in the home. However, any outside noise, she startles and barks. Car door in the middle of the night, She bolts out of bed on full alert barking. She's never been starved, beaten, or neglected, but if a stranger met her, or she wound up in a shelter, people would think she'd been all three by the way she acts! She loves her yard, outside her yard not so much. She got out with the boys one day, she came running back inside scared. The boys ran to the car when I told them ride. I went to get her to go on the ride with them. I could not get her in the car. I gave up and no one got a ride. the times she has gone for a ride she got a DQ treat, but it doesn't have enough sway to make her like the car.
So anyways the vet says that meds won't help her. She also said that about Wrinkles. I'm going to make an appt. at another vet that I've used before whose career has been small animals. Not horses and cows. If nothing else maybe he'll have some ideas on how else to go about dealing with her issues.
