So yes I have been keeping a secret...we have a new dog. Only Mary and MaryEllen knew up until now.
We got a new pup three weeks after Harley passed...in hindsight not the best decision but that is another story in itself!
Harley had sooo many healthy problems as most of you know and was sick for quite some time so this time around I figured I would go to a reputable breeder and purchase a healthy well-bred pure bred APBT....famous last words.
Eleanor is now 11 months and it has been one hell of a ride. She has been plagued with numerous health problems....so much so that at one point we discussed having to possibly put her down and or re-home her to our vet.
BTW she is the black butterball on the home screen...its an old pic. I will try and post more pics but she is not the most photogenic. She is all black except for a white patch on her chest and some white feet and has pretty light eyes. Her mom was red and her dad black.

Michele, I'm so sorry that Eleanor has had health issues. Especially after Harley, that must be very difficult for you. She's such a cute little thing! And I love her name!

Thanks Suzi. I know you have had your fair share of health issues in your dogs esp. Miss D and as much as we love them it gets rather expensive and it takes a toll on everyone!
Ellie needs one of her medications three times a day every 8 hours and it is imperative she gets it. That means she is getting the second does at dinner and if we don’t get home till 5 or 6 pm that means she needs it at 1 or 2 am and needs a full meal with it. Fortunately we are night owls. The things we do for our dogs!
BTW her full name is Eleanor Rose but we call her Ellie…unless she is in trouble and then we bust out the old Eleanor Rose get over here now....LOL

That sucks about the health issues. Might they be reduced over time? I hope things improve for you guys.
I was wondering about that picture of the little black dog. Very cute!! I wish you all the best with her.

Ellie is really smart and has the most gorgeous coat and bright eyes. I guess they are like a golden brown. She's def a handful because of those health issues. Makes me insanely angry, I swear that 99.999999% of breeders should just be banned from ever having a litter. Even so called reputable and responsible ones will turn around and f*ck you over. It's insane. At this point there is only one breeder I would truly trust because of my personal experience with her (Luca's breeder, who just offered me a Luca cousin for free, but we won't talk about that since I am barred from getting any dogs ). Even a "good reputation" among people in the know doesn't mean anything at the end of the day.

Michele, you mentioned in another thread that you have insurance for Eleanor but that your claims have been denied. Which insurance company and why are the claims being denied? We've been with PetPlan for many years now and we've never had a claim denied.

^Not petplan I thought I did my due diligence when it came down to picking a company. I wish I had gone with PetPlan as the reviews are great! The denied Ellie for one of her conditions based on pre-existing BS.

I wish you all the best with her. Thanks Dave! She has two luxating patellas so unfortunately they will not resolve over time. She is a candidate for surgery now on the one knee but due to her other condition she can not have surgery at the moment. She is being treated for vasculitis which involves keeping her on medication until we feel the symptoms have resolved and the wound has healed and then weaning her off the meds and then waiting to see if the condition comes back or not. So as of now...who knows if that condition will go into remission or not. Fingers crossed!
