Hi there, My name is Rachel and my son adopted a pit from the local pound named Zoe a couple of months ago. We hired a personal trainer for her to come to the house because of all the horror stories you hear. He felt she had fear aggression and we have started basic obedience training with her. Her previous owner surrendered her when she moved to California so we have no history. She is one and a half years old.
Well last Sunday she bit my father in law in the stomach. As can be expected the inlaws are very upset and want us to put the dog down. We spoke with the trainer and now we have to switch up the training to deal with aggressiveness and get her a cinch collar. This is all so upsetting. Our son is grown and going through a divorce and was staying with us. I have a daycare and the parents have said they do not want the dog here during daycare hours.
Please advise. I am hoping to meet some wonderful people and get the emotional support I feel I need right now Thank you Rachel

Hi Rachel, Sorry to her what happened with Zoe. Can you explain the circumstances that precipitated the bite? Also a word of caution "Aggression begets aggression - do not yell at, hit, jerk, or otherwise use force/pain to "stop" the aggression. This can only make the aggression worse and get you bitten." Hi Michelle, When my inlaws got to the house and Zoe saw them she had her hair up on her back and was barking So my husband left her in the house and went out to visit. After awhile he took her out on the leash and had them give her treats. They then walked around outside visiting for quite awhile. She had her bone on the ground so my father in law gave it to her. She took it and then turned around and bit her in the stomach
