hi i adopted a red nose pit 2 months ago (give or take a week). i have no idea where he was beforehand (found him) though i know he wasn't involved in dog fights (doesn't seem injured and he's not aggressive towards other dogs). however - he is aggressive towards anyone walking next to him. he's on a leash but even the house owner gets barked at (and they live next door).. it's pretty uncomfortable because people don't want to visit anymore.. when i walk with him (with a leash or when he's free) he reacts fine to other people animals. but when he's tied he has a dominance issue.. i'm guessing he was a guard dog beforehand - that's pretty much the only logic thing that i can come up with, with his behavior..
what can i do? it's driving my wife mad and people are afraid to get near him..
thanks!

So what your saying is when the dog is tied in the yard it barks at others? This could be one of many things. Either the dog is frustrated with being tied, the dog is scared, or could be other things. When your dog barks it's tail between it's legs? Is the body language fearful? Or does the dog look like it is trying t defend it's turf?
I personally wouldn't leave a dog tied in my yard unless it is a quick bathroom trip or unless you are out there and able to correct the dog when it behaves in that way. I wouldn't leave it out there alone to be barking.
