Dogfighting and the stereotypes associated by these people on responsible owners.

BSL, technically, is my biggest concern, however, irresponisble ownership is what fuels BSL and if we saw more responsibility from owners, BSL would eventually be a non-issue.

I agree. Also, 2 other nit pic things: Owners that walk their dogs up to other dogs in public face to face. Poor containment. Their dog gets out and does the dogs stuff to fuel BSL. : :

I agree as well, BSL is also my big concern. I don't know if you all seen that commercial for the new "Dare" LG phone from verizon but that really ticked me off.

Ahh, the infamous Dare phone commercial! Yes, that was pretty angering to a lot of people.

BAD CONTAINMENT DRIVES ME INSANE!!! Not just regarding Pit Bulls, but in general. You should see the steam come out of my ears when I see a loose dog.

Mary... You'd be literally boiling and ready to explode if you were here. A big development company just bought 4000 acres out here where I live and the logging companies are cutting trees by the thousands now. Between the strays that are losing their "homes", dogs that are being dumped and the ones that get out of their yards... in the last 2 weeks I've seen a pack of 6 feral dogs, 2 freshly dumped dogs, 4 strays and 3 that have gotten loose. One came to our front door and we were able to return him to his owners, one is so fearful of people that he'll sneak up from behind but the second you turn around he's gone... skinny as heck too! (Incidentally, the scaredy cat came trompin through the backyard this morning on his way to the next (female) dogs house.) The other is a female that's got to be in heat with all the males I've seen running around here in the last few days... It's insane! And there's NO animal control out here to enforce the few laws that are in place. The ONE shelter here is "no kill" and privately funded so has no room and does turn animals away... and because they are "no kill", they're full of sick and aggressive animals to boot. It's a mess... just a flippin mess. And this leads me to my reply to the original question. What concerns me most is lack of concern and ignorance. There are people who care, but they feel overwhelmed to do anything about it... when they try to help, doors are slammed in their faces. Then you've got your "idiot" owners who don't think to build stronger confinement for escape artists and seldom actually go out looking for their dogs. Add to that the people who will ID any dog that makes their heart skip a beat as a Pit Bull because "OMG! That dog scared me! It's mean... it's a Pit Bull." And those who leave their cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, etc out to free roam and God forbid a stray dog (aka pit bull/pittbull/pitbull) get a hold of it because it's hungry or just following it's natural instinct and prey drive... Sorry... I know this seems like a rant and it is. I'm just REALLY tired of the ignorance, because it all leads to BSL.
