Back to feeding seperately

Ok, so yesterday I fed them in their crates for their evening meal and I included a raw egg. Neither was too thrilled, and within 5 minutes were whining to get out. They ate a little, but not much. This a.m. I again fed them in their crates and gave them each a half can of ground lamb and rice with their reg. food, which they have a few days a week. They ate some, but not their usual amount. I just gave them their evening meal, and Reed ate nothing. In fact, he covered his bowl with his blanket that we line his crate with. I uncovered it and left the room and he did it again. So I removed his bowl and let him out of his crate. Is this something that they just have to get used to? ???

You don't have to feed them at the same time. Crate one while the other eats out of the crate. Or feed them in seperate rooms or like Mary said, at least at opposite ends of the same room under heavy supervision.

If they aren't having issues now eating together, that's great. Our point was, don't think that the odds are with you that they will continue to do this without issues as they mature.

Don't become complacent and think that just because they've been eating like this all along with no problems that they will be fine for the rest of their lives.

This is where people miss the beginning subtle signs which indicate progression to a problem. The key is to prevent issues down the road.

Sounds good. I will try something new tomorrow. I actually thought it was quite funny that he did that though.

He had a crate sit-in! Boycott eating alone. lol

well, they say that dogs won't starve themselves, so don't worry.
At some point, yours will get hungry enough to forget whatever it is that they've being pissy about and just eat.
