Separate the dog and cats , either put the dog in a crate as the cats have the run of the house or put the cats in another room, train the dog to leave the cat alone, dont let him get excited for the chase, when you see the dog go for the cat, grab him by the nape of his neck gently and say no firmly,do this everytime the dog gets excited or goes for the cat, , dont leave the dog and cats home alone loose together, they must be separated;all animals in the houshold should be separated from your pitty while you are gone.... the crate will make your dog more at peace with his surroundings....always supervise your dog when he is around the cats..........its fine to keep cats with pittys but there is always a chance the cat may end up dead but it does not have to happen when you take responsiblilitiy to learn how to avoid that situation, pls dont give up your dog.... this is one of the reasons many pittys end up at the shelters because people dont have the knowledge to care properly for them but rest assured that you will find that knowledge here or on the internet

Ooops forgot to say.... I f your dog does have the cat in his mouth, quickly grab the collar of the dog and pull it up, that will make the dog gasp for breath and drop release the cat..........I did that with my dog when he caught my cat for the first time..... my pitty loves the cat and my other little dog , a moppet designer dog.... but one day I was walking both dogs on the leash and my cat came out of the blue ,purring against my pits face and he got the cat , thinking it was a strange animal...he loves my other furbabies but does not like strange dogs or cats........that white pitty in your profile pic is beautiful

I just posted a response on the Pit Bull board under the Pits and Cats thread. But I'm concerned about the fact that you say you will have to get rid of the dog. How old is she, how long have you had her, and where would she go if you could not keep her? Where did she initially come from?
We can help you, BUT you must understand that expecting a Pit Bull that has already killed a cat to be ok with all cats after training is just not reasonable. This is a high prey drive breed and prey drive is something you have to manage, you cannot 'train it away'.

it is going to take MONTHS to work this out, not a day.. and honestly, with the way the breed is now, your dog will NEVER get adopted and will be EUTHANIZED if you give her up. either take the time to work on it, and expect it to take months, or find a home for your cat, as the cat will be easier to place then a bully breed. or, separate the cat and dog forever and have both live separate lives..

Why would you have to get rid of a dog for having cat aggression?
My dogs hate cats, and given the chance, they'd kill a cat. So, I keep cats way, and make sure they don't get an opp. to get a cat.
