I used to jog regularly, and I always wanted a dog to jog with...Murphy was supposed to be my jogging buddy, but he is not structurally sound...so no running for him! I haven't been a regular jogger in a few years, and really want to get back into it...and Daisy needs on leash aerobic exercise We've been working on LLW, and she's really improving. I take her to a really nice park here that has a 2 mile track under these beautiful oak trees. I'm starting out jogging in small intervals...one because I'll keel over if I do too much LOL, and two to ease Daisy into it too. At first she almost caused me to fall on my face a few times...getting excited when we start to run, stopping and play bowing, jumping on me, etc LOL. The other day we had a perfect jog...she kept pace with me, a little bit out in front of me...that doesn't bother me as long as she doesn't pull...but it was perfect. I was very proud of her! Now I just need to keep up with this so I can work up to longer sprints....ack I'm outta shape! I have her on a martingale collar, but wonder if a harness would be better?

Awesome!!! a harness might make her want to pull faster, but its worth a try..

Thanks! We had another good jog tonight :-) I can tell she really enjoys it...but now I'm getting shin splints. I think I need a better pair of running shoes.

LOL! I am trying to start jogging, I went last night for the first time in a while. My shins hurt, too! And I just bought new jogging shoes (haven't arrived yet, though). I would love to jog with Luca but he is not really able to do fast paced walks for more than 15 - 30 minutes, especially on hard surfaces, so he has to stay home. Good girl, Daisy!!! I would suggest, if you go the harness route, to use a front-conencting harness like Gentle Leader or Sensation Harness - clip the leash to both the harness clip and her regular collar to keep it snug (learned that trick from MaryC )

LOL I am a mess! Now my knees hurt....man, I guess I'm getting older LOL. I had none of these issues 5 yrs ago. Daisy must think I'm nuts, just when we hit a good stride, I gotta stop and limp for a bit :-P

And of course, just as I get back into the swing of things, we are hit with an icy and snow storm, so no jogging for me right now
