He is handsome and such a love and wonderful manners in home, public and car. Adores the kids and everyone he meets. He also came with HORRIBLE, flaky skin and a broken lower canine but we can salvage as no nerve is exposed. I will have it looked at and maybe filed to round it off so there's no sharp edges. He was on a poor diet but that's all changed.

Okie Dokie..Mac's been neutered and recovering/recovered...he's a dream of a dog, has learned a default sit, sit on hand signal, down (though not reliable quite yet) and has mastered the bell on the door...to the point that I have to take it off at times. But I digress... My question is...who here is good at digging up line info? I have his ADBA number and his sire and dam's name and some number that his owner gave along with it. This is really no big deal, more of a curiousity thing. I looked on the ADBA site and didn't find anywhere to search for dogs via names or numbers. This is a locally bred dog, like I said, no biggee, just curious about genetic temperament.

Mac's proving to be selective as well. We had an approved home lined up and introductions with the resident female and Mac did not go over well. We tried again a week later and it just wasn't a match. The energy levels were waaaay off. He has adored Jasmine from the day I intro'd them, immediate full-blown play bows and posturing...thank goodness, she can wear him out for me.

Yep, every once in a blue moon we get lucky and come across a dog that Karma likes that well. It's rare tho. She's never gone as far as to fight because we're always right there to supervise everything, but intros have to be very slow and mild for about the first 2 weeks or so before the dogs are even allowed off leash together if at all. (What I have to say is... thank gawd for dogs that understand where they fit in and who's the boss, and thank gawd I have a husband who, although not very dog savvy, will listen and respect my wishes for how I want things to be done and why.)

My husband's the same way! LOL Not real dog savvy, I'm still reminding him that no dog in my house understands the word "No"! But he follows my lead and is very helpful when I need him. He's getting much more savvy, through sheer immersion! LOL I waited for a couple of weeks before intro'ing Mac and Jazz, too. Mac was crated where my two would walk by and he was able to observe them and relax, knowing all is cool and he was safe. From the beginning, Jasmine was very interested in him and would wiggle and whine and look at me like, "Can I PAH LEEZE just play with him MOM??" And Mac would growl at her. He never gave any indications that he was interested in her or wanted to greet her through the crate. So I had no idea how it was going to work. Fortunately, it worked out nicely.
