Yes, it is difficult to tell in pix sometimes. Better to see the dog from a variety of angles and in motion.

My pure bred APBT Boomer is 1 1/2 years old and only weighs about 45-50 pounds. He is short and muscular. We walk him daily and he also weight pulls (just for fun not for show) and has a spring pole that he is in love with. Depending on your dogs genetic background and build your dog may not get beefy. But one thing I would recommend for keeping them fit and building muscule is weight pulling and buying or making a spring pull! Boomer loves those two things! Exercise is what will help to build muscules and keep your dog healthy and fit. By the way, if you decide to do weight pulling start slow! You definetly dont want to hurt your dog!!!

I agree w/Mary, your boy looks like an American Bulldog. He's a very handsome boy :-) And I'd bet he's somewhere around 100 pounds :-)

If your dog is turning one in april, that means he is only 9 months old. Mine is 10 months old and is still skinny and hasn't bulked up much. He isn't done growing and filling out yet, that is why you probably think he is too skinny. It will come in time, depending on his genetics. As long as he is eating a good quality food and getting daily exercise, he should be a healthy weight.

Uhm - kick me if you have to.. I have a great dane, female, weight averages between 98 and 103, 11 years of age (I know - she is an antique - she carries the recipe for dirt in her back pocket). And, I just have to ask - how in the name of all that is holy can you afford to feed a dog that weighs almost 200 pounds??? That has got to be like feeding 2 dane's... Ok - now laugh - I am full of the sarcasm this afternoon )

Andre Cassel.....
''how in the name of all that is holy can you afford to feed a dog that weighs almost 200 pounds???"
I can afford to feed two great danes if I had to...... and I do feed all my pets expensively... two dogs and a cat...I also cook for my dogs; healthy foods plus dry and canned................. there are many people that have dogs that they can not afford to take care of , let alone feed them and such is the case , they should not get a certain dog if it cost too much to feed them.....then there are veterinary services needed which would take alot more finances................... too many people adopt dogs without giving thought to what it will cost them in the long run and when the time comes to frustration, the poor dog is taken to the shelter.....there are thousands of dogs and cats dying in the shelters .

Staffxpit....your dog is still a BABY. It takes 2 - 3 years for this breed to fill out to their full potential. Don't rush him Sounds like you are caring for him well (I'm sorry, I do not recognize the main food you are feeding, though - but I'm in the US), so I'd say if he's healthy and your vet has said he's a good weight, just keep doing what you are doing.

Yogi is gorgeous!!! He looks so cute, I just wanna hug him!!! My 1st bully was an American Bulldog, he looked a lot like yours! They are so cute, ours was extremly stubborn, is Yogi? Sometimes we would have to literally pick him up to put him outside. He was only 85-90lbs though, but I'm pretty little so that was very entertaining for my husband to watch! Gotta love em!
