I apologize if it seemed like I "caught an attitude". I was very much thrown off by the tone of the message (and, maybe I can be a HOLE HECK OF A LOT oversensitive about 99% of the time ). I have done quite a bit of research on the general health, health issues, genetics, etc. of the APBT, and I have spent most of my life running back and forth to conformation and obedience trials, doing home checks for rescues, volunteering my nights and weekends at the local shelters, and being around almost every type of canine, feline, rodent and avian creature I could expose myself to. Mary Ellen - I do appreciate the information that you gave and the questions that you posed. Everyone else - I appreciate the enthusiasm that you show when I post new information and pictures of Lily. I enjoy reading the messages, reading the posts and replys of everyone and learning something new each day on this board. Anyways, this board is great, as are all of the people and pups on it, and I just wanted to apologize for getting my fur rubbed the wrong way and snapping about it..

i didnt know you did all that, if i did i wouldnt have posted all that info.. i think that is FANTASTIC that you are doing all that, most people dont, and i commend you for it.. sorry we both got off track. i too was involved in rescue for 6 years, and it always broke my heart when people would callme to surrender their pitbulls because they didnt do their research and such.. i am sorry... Friends?

Aw Andrea...everyone here shares a common bond, a love of the breed! Some of us are very, very active in rescue and battle breeders all the time so we sometimes get aggravated when we hear about folks who run out and keep them in business. That does not seem to be the case with you and we are here to help and support you! This forum is fabulous for amiable conversation and it's refreshing here, with a community feel and respectful posters that you just don't find elsewhere. I'm glad to have met you and look forward to being of assistance if I can as I'm sure everyone else with experience feels the same way, ME included!

I don't think you came off as offensive personally. I think when someone cares a lot about animals they tend to get defensive of them, and also they can sometimes think they know all the answers to all the questions that anyone else can have, even though, there is never one right answer. But all of this is because they care, deeply, for animals, and in this case pit bulls and how they are bred and treated both by their owners and the rest of the world. This is the way it seemed to play out to me. ME just assumed you hadn't done your homework, and really there is no way to tell any of that and the easiest thing (and what 99% of people do) is to just assume. Believe me, I feel the same way on forums. People always assume your uneducated until you prove otherwise lol. Just don't take it to heart, even though that is hard when it is something you care so deeply about.

Awww, Andrea, I'm glad to have you here, and it was sweet of you to post this thread. It's just normal for some communication to not go as planned on forums because of the sort of medium it is. Can't see the person's face, or hear inflections in their voice, etc. We are all really sticklers for respect and politeness here, but sometimes we ALL get rubbed the wrong way and get a little snappy. Just human nature! (Incidentally, I didn't think you got snappy - just defending yourself in a way.) Maryellen is EXTREMELY knowledgeable and ALWAYS willing to help other members. I think you'll see that about her the longer you are around. Anyhoo, carry on, all! ;D
