BSL - how to be proactive

OK - I am brainstorming here and need some help. To find other APBT owners in my area and to start an organization to fight BSL I could:

1. Post memo's at the veterinary clinics, pet stores, feed supplies asking for responsible owners to contact me so that a sort of "group" could be formed to defend the breed
2. Get a list of my state's "uppities" and get some letters going
3. Get other APBT owners involved in CGC and STAR Pup programs

4. More ideas please ???

I think it's a good idea to get a list of your state representatives, and know what laws are currently on the books as relates to dogs/dangerous dogs.

Andrea, it can be difficult rallying people to get involved in the cause, unfortunately. One way I've found people is networking through message boards. Setting up an email list that is clearly labelled (something like Louisiana Against BSL) which makes it easy to search for and hit the right audience is another thing I've found luck with (you can use Groups...it's free). You also might contact American Dog Owners Association.

Thanks!! We don't have any reputable local APBT breed clubs here - so may look into finding some people and getting one going. Got Ray working on the legal stuff - he is off work this week so he needed a "job". I will also try the groups and see if I can ramble anything up there. I just want something organized down here just to be on the safe side.. Any more ideas would be great!!
