Hi! My name is Laurel and my husband and I just adoped a rescue dog who is boxer and (we think) pitbull mix. Our last dog was a boxer so we wanted to adopt another one after he died. Green Acres Boxer Rescue had Chubs on their website, and it was love at first sight. That was apparently his name because, compared to other boxers, he is quite muscular. He recently lost some weight and is down to about 60 pounds. He's also shorter than a normal boxer. He has been well-trained, so he has the basics, but he :)hasn't ever lived with cats before. So we're working on "Leave It," walking with a halter on a leash, and not barking so much at things happening on the street. We understand barking at the mailman, etc. if he/she is at the house, but he tends to bark every time he sees anyone on the block. And we live in the city, so there are always people on our block. We do have a fenced yard for him.

Hey there, Laurel! Welcome to the forum! I'm sure we can help with the barking, etc. if you care to post specifics on the Training & Behavior Board. Any questions, just ask! Also, feel free to post pix of your 'Boxer' - we'd love to see him.

Welcome. My Shelby is supposedly part boxer. Her mom was a pit and the father was supposedly a boxer. Here she is as a pup with one of her sisters. She's the alert, pretty one.
