I just started to teach my dog to touch her butt! I know it is stupid, but (lol) she was tired and didn't want to stand so I couldn't teach her to touch her toes.
Does anyone else have any other meaningless yet funny tricks that you have taught to your dogs?

Touch her butt to what? Or nose to butt? It's not stupid to train these behaviors, anything you teach is 1) interation with your dog and beneficial if done positively and 2) useful in some instances.
Meaningless tricks I've taught my dogs? Hmm...where do I start (although many times the meaningless ones prove useful later:
twist & twirl take a bow paws up on an item (either front fett, just back feet or all four) head down (already in a down position this cue means put your head on the floor) sit up wave high five high ten strawberry (I stick my tongue out, they lick their chops) I don't use a verbal cue for this fix it (they shake their head to fix a flipped ear) shiver (shake off, as if wet) get dressed (prompt to stick their head into a coat or collar) Really? (another new trick) cue prompts them to cock their head to the side Jazz has a "bang" cue on verbal and hand signal where she dramatizes being "shot" she runs. slids on her side and flips onto her back and plays dead. That was fabulous to free shape with clicker!

lol touch her nose to her butt. i use clicker and whatever treats (carrots, ham, turkey, cheese). the next thing i want to teach is "open" (she opens her mouth) so that brushing her teeth will be easier.
do you think that since i was teaching her to touch her butt while lying down, she will know how to do it standing up? (i should probably work on "standing" on cue)

My favorite trick Lucy knows is pretty dumb. It's "do a circle" and she spins in a circle w/o jumping. My last dog had a "jump and spin" trick, which was easy to teach because he was real bouncy and could jump ridiculously high. Lucy actually learned "do a circle" from watching another dog do it. She can also wack her face with her tail, but not on cue, just when she gets excited

This one isn't meaningless or funny really, but Josie our Dobie knows "check the house" as she was originally trained (not by me) to be a guard dog. It's kinda cute though, she goes trotting through the house checking each room and comes back with a big smile on her face

Jasmine will "paws up" when in the car with the sun roof open...not at all the purpose of teaching that but boy does she get looks when we're driving through town and a pit bull head is popped up through the roof...ears flapping.

wow both those are awesome. you know, my dog does the check the house thing by herself. when she falls asleep and people leave the room she will search every room until she finds us. unfortunately we don't have a sunroof so no cute flapping ears.
i think i have given up on the butt trick. i am going to teach "open" or "open wide" for teeth brushing instead. it is still fun but also serves a purpose. here is a list i need to work on, in order:
1. go to place 2. right here (heel) 3. open 4. bring newspaper (for those cold winter days)

Snipe~ I don't know if you have or not but if not, consider starting with something she already knows or semi-knows. In clicker training, especially for beginners, it will benefit you and your dog to work on something known to get the hang of it.
Perfecting a sit, shaping it to a square, working on easy behaviors such as a "flop", etc basically you may want to practice something really easy in order to get better at timing and more observant when you are capturing.
Dogs respond very well to clicker training but it does help if they are set up to succeed and do not become frustrated by handler errors, which I'm not implying you will make but we all do, much more frequently when new to it.
Remember: It's very important to load the clicker to get the absolute most out of it.

well she already knows "right here" but i want to strengthen it (so basically the same as reinforcing sit) and she loves to fetch so maybe i could transition that to the paper.
