If you are driving through a city with a pit bull ban will they:
-stop you and take your dog? -or do you have to be out of the car first?

I've never heard of anyone being pulled over for having a banned breed. The worst I've heard is that if you stop for any reason and the law sees your dog, they tell you to get it out of town. Denver used to require a permit to transport a dog through the city, but the court that upheld most of their law threw that one out.
Really, the best thing when driving through a known BSL location like Denver is NOT to stop. And the best way to keep your dog when driving is in a secure crate (I actually put a padlock on mine). There was an incident where a family was stopped, the door was left open and the dog left the car. The cop shot the dog alleging that it had threatened him.

Man, that will def. make me think twice before letting Chloe just ride loose in the car driving through Denver. I never would of thought of that, I just make sure not to stop! Guess that's not enough, huh!?

Stephen King was almost killed by a car whose owner was momentarily distracted by his loose dog...

She stays in her seat, never has come over to mine, she doesnt bounce all over the car either. I have taught her to stay in her seat and she does. I'm more concernd w/the subject originally mentioned and for that reason, yes, she should wear a seat belt!

I always take the dogs for a ride with yogi leashed and tied to the head rest to be safely secured in case he runs out of the car, but funny thing is ,hes so good that even without the leash as when i forget to tie him he would not even budge out of his seat with the door open but iam not holding my breath, anything scurring out there like a squirrel will set off the chase motion.... better safe than sorry,he is always certainly tied in the car

Dogs "NEVER" do anything.. until the first time they do it. So a seatbelt (or I crate them) is a good idea. It's what I do always. Except when I don't... well, your dog should never ride loose in the car anyway! At least they should wear a seat belt.
