Feel free to delete this thread or tweak it, if necessary but this was just an idea for a sticky post.
I was thinking that anyone with experience or who knows of great, positive trainers in their areas could post contact info or websites so anyone on RPBF could have access to trainers in their areas (or close, or to contact for referrals).
Example would be to list the city and state and then the contact info/website and maybe a bit of experience with them.
Did that make any sense at all? lol

And just to be clear, R+ trainers are those who do not use shock collars, prong collars, choke chains, alpha rolls, etc.

I'll go first Greater Mobile, AL area: Frances Dauster, CPDT www.sunpaws.com251-786-7297 Offers in-home behavioral consults, in-home (no kennels) boarding, doggie daycare, private lessons. Frances is a personal friend and is pit bull friendly (she's fostering Guinness for BBR) and is the most qualified trainer on the gulf coast. She's also a ton of fun!

I need the Reading/Berks County, PA area. I want to work with a trainer, maybe apprentice or at least provide some kind of help in exchange for teaching me how to train my dogs.

I can't give you a specific recommendation (Lancaster isn't near you, right?), but check out the Truly Dog Friendly site. It looks like there are a bunch of trainers that would be possibly contacts for you. www.trulydogfriendly.com

Baltimore, MD: B-More Charming School for Dogs www.b-morecharming.com/index.shtmlLauren Bond, the head trainer here, uses scienctifically sound, positive reinforcement in her classes. She used to work with a veterinary behaviorist, which also gives her some interesting insights into canine behavior. Definitely worth looking up if you're looking for classes in Baltimore.

They are very good! I train at Cold Nose Lodge in Alburtis, PA and they are friends with the owner. She recommends them to anyone in that area. I've met the owners at a few events and they always seem very nice. They know their "stuff."

I don't get to post on here much, but I am a CPDT and have 3 pit bulls of my own, all rescues. I work at a training facility that uses positive, dog friendly methods. We are in the New Haven, CT area and are pit bull friendly.

Our trainer for Dara is below. We had one trainer prior to this that we just didn't jive with. Before finding Eric I interviewed a bunch of behaviorists here in the NYC area and the moment I spoke to Eric I knew it was the perfect fit. Dara has developed over the last few months extreme leash aggression when she sees other dogs while out on walks. She is only good with her friends at daycare that she has known for a long time. Using high value food in combo with other training excercises has helped a lot but we are still working We live in NYC and Eric comes to our apt. He lives in NJ but also teaches dog training classes at Fetch which is around the corner from our home. Eric Goebelbecker, CPDT eric@dogspelledforward.com www.dogspelledforward.com888-591-8996

I don't know Eric, but I have "heard" good things about him and his site is great! As a side note: technically only those with college degrees in the field of behaviorism (ie a Masters or PhD) are "behaviorists" There is no governing body in the dog training field, so people can call themselves whatever they want. But it definitely is frowned upon in the academic world to call oneself a behaviorist if you don't have the degree to back it up. Just an FYI to help those shopping around for trainers!
