I see this is an old sticky, but my trainer in Columbia Station, OH is Ginger Alpine of Fortunate Fido - www.fortunatefido.com. I call her my goddess of a dog trainer as she helped me make the crossover from compulsion to clicker, and because of her Inara can now be in public around other dogs and compete in obedience and rally.

This thread definitely needs to be added to - the more R+ trainers, the better!

Mary, do you have anyone yet that you can recommend down this way? Other than Renee, not really. Not sure exactly of my geography, but Erin Kerchner at Cold Nose Lodge in Alburtis PA is someone I'd recommend. I'm also going to meet with Susan Bove from Gray Wolf Dog Training - she really wants to work with RPB and wants me to check out her training style, so she might end up being a resource. We'll see.

Ok my Library just put in circulation one of the books I requested. Positive training for idiots by Pamela Dennison. Funny that name was so familiar so I looked it up. She is an hour and a half from my area but still in the Northern end of NJ I noticed on her website she is offering online classes which could possibly be good for people in my area. However then you lack being in a classroom with other dogs. But then that is where those hikes come in. I am pretty sure that Pam is one of the people that Dee from the hikes has referred or maybe even took classes with her. Do you know is Pam R+

Besides Pam Dennison and Eric at Dog Spelled Forward (who are both solid R+ trainers), here are a couple of other places/people that are all R+ in the Jersey area that I know of: St. Hubert's Animal Training and Behavior Center www.sthuberts.org/pettrainingTraining and Behavior Center 22 Prospect Street Madison, NJ 07940 (973) 377-0116 training@sthuberts.org Lori Shah KPA-CTP Clicker Training NJ Somerset, NJ (732) 659-0158 Lori@clickertrainingnj.com www.clickertrainingnj.comprivates and semi-privates- no group classes Joana Watsky Sit and Stay www.njsitnstay.com/(201) 933-3369 info@njsitnstay.com All classes are available in Hoboken and Nutley, New Jersey Madeline Friedman NY-NJ Dog Trainer www.ny-njdogtrainer.com/646-265-8743 madeline@ny-njdogtrainer.com I also know of folks in the Buffalo, NY area, Poughkeepsie, NY area, Hudson Valley, NY, NYC, Long Island, and in various areas around CT as well. We keep a pretty comprehensive list because we require adopters go to basic training at a rescue-approved facility that is R+ and humane.

Does anyone have any recommendations in the Baton Rouge, LA area? I went to the trulydogfriendly website and there's only 1 listing in Louisiana and it's in New Orleans, which is an hour away. My other dog was treated by a behaviorist and trained by his wife (they are a team), but they are also in New Orleans and so far, Matilda doesn't have any behaviorial issues, she just needs some training.
I know who everyone in Baton Rouge recommends and George took his class when I first adopted him and it's all chock collars and hot dogs

Can I pimp myself out since I'm taking private clients now? LOL Cleveland, OH. Still working on my training hours for my CPDT, but I train force-free and am inexpensive. Love helping the reactive dogs as I have a LOT of experience with that. Will not take any human aggression cases though. Liz of Pit Bull Zen www.pitbullzen.cominfo@pitbullzen.com

Thanks, Mary! It still blows my mind that I'm qualified enough that people will pay for my help, LOL. It's so fun though. :-)
