Soooo Mav has started humping his pillow!! He's got a fluffy pillow/bed thing that stays in his crate and all of a sudden he's been going in his crate, pulling it out, and mounting/humping it!! crazy dog... thoughts?

Well I don't have any thoughts, but it sure makes me chuckle! My little dog Taz who we lost last summer had to hump the corner of my comforter 3 times (not 2 or 4) every night before he went to bed. He did it without fail. He walked in the bedroom, walked up to the bed, humped 3 times and then walked away. He did it every night for the almost 9 years we had him??? Never figured out why but it was one of the things that made him special! Mary

yogi does that with my little moppet dog chloe, He is neutered but he tends to be so horny; hovers over the little one , humps the air while digging into the pillow or comforter , he does this often enough and makes my other dog antsy!... I dont see any harm in this but Iam watching , you just never know, even though the little one is the alpha, she bitches when yogi does that and I separate them when he attempts to do it..........the ole yogs a sweet clown , as sweet as ice cream, he loves ice cream but hates coffee flavor ....LOL

My BT Bela used to be a hump machine also (neutered.) One Christmas my ex thought it would be a great idea to get him a Target dog stuffed animal that was about his size. Yah, it became his hump toy. That's all he did with it. I had to put it away it got so annoying lol. He also used to hump arms, it was his favorite past time.

Oh my! My aunt and uncle had a Yorkie which would drag the same slipper to the living room floor every night and hump the fire out of it then curl up on it and go to sleep. (Typical male) He did this with more gusto when company was over. When he died, they had him cremated and his little urn is in the slipper on the mantle.

Roscoe (neutered) humps Bonnie (spayed) all the time. It all started when I fostered a female dog that hadn't been spayed yet. Ugh.
Aiden (neutered) also humps on occasion, but really the most perverted thing he does is that licking/teeth chattering thing after he sniffs Bonnie's privates. For some reason, that grosses me out more than the humping. Maybe because I know it is only sexual when dogs hump for other reasons.
Thankfully I've never had a problem with any of my dogs humping people.

LOL so the thing stays in his crate, but he drags it out to have his fun? Let's hope he restrains himself from doing that while I'm over there

oh by the way, I came home yesterday to his projectile diarhea all over his crate, my carpet, and the walls. Second time in the past year. How nice. Bedroom carpet is ruined, $500 to replace, and the dogs crates are being moved to another room after new carpet goes in. UGH!

I SOOO sympathize with you, since Luca's had a LOT of stomach trouble over the years and I've had to clean up enough diarhea to last 10 life times.

Humping behavior, btw, is usually about control or is displaced stress-behavior. You see it in dogs that get aroused in a certain situation, sort of as a way of releasing some of that stress or frustration. It *can* be about dominance, and it *can* be sexual, but a lot of the time it is not. And some of the time I think it's just wacky behavior that became self reinforcing for the dog, the way thumb sucking, hair twirling, leg tapping, etc can become so for humans.

thanks for the info Mary! I had kinda just chalked it up to wacky behavior/maturing since he's been doing a lot of other weird stuff lately as he's turning 2. And the diarrhea, ugh!! He had this problem one day about 6-8 months ago, out of nowhere. Same thing yesterday. He ate nothing different, just his regular kibble. Seems to feel fine, no other issues, and today his crate was clean (thank God). Who knows!!

That is such the weirdest thing. And I really hate you guys are gonna have to replace that too now...ouch!

Not at all, Jess. If there's no change in food, exercise, lifestyle, etc. and he's just been to the vet and all is well, i'm at a loss as to what would cause sudden diarrhea.
