Well Mac made it home, he slept most of the way only to stop and use the bathroom. When we arrived he was quietly greeted by everyone, he seemed to accept them very well. He was then put in his crate. He has growled at Remmy the 2 times she came by his crate but when he was outside this morning I put her in the kennel to keep them separated he was fine, just will take time. Remmy is not the least bit concerned with him she is going about life with a few extra sniffs. He has whined a little in his Kennel but nothing bad. We wrapped his blanky around a pillow and he just snuggles up and goes to sleep. Everyone fell instantly in love with him, I think he will do great. We just need to make it through the first couple weeks without spoiling him.

Forgot to mention that Mac growled at my dogs, too even Jasmine who made it very clear she just wanted to play with him. Following the protocol of keeping them seperated, establishing a routine and keeping things calm and low key for the first couple of weeks makes a world of difference. The dogs learn that neither is a threat, "get to know" each other via smells and footfalls and sounds so when they are introduced later, they aren't exactly strangers. Exchanging bedding or a blanket several times also distributes scent and helps further acclimate them to each others smells which helps when they meet and greet, they are sniffing familiar scents.
