Hi I'm Melanie. I live in Albertville Minnesota. I have two pits, Vinny is 4 and Diesel is 10 months. We love our doggies very much, but lately have been frustrated with some behavior problems. Vinny is nearly a perfect dog. His only flaw is he runs after other dogs to show them he is tough! We do have a fenced yard but also two small boys who don't always monitor the front door properly! Diesel is also showing aggression towards other dogs. Our neighbors hate us, we are trying to move :-[ I have no idea how to change this behavior. Also, Diesel has started marking in the house. Just in the last month or so. He is neutered. Doesn't seem to have to go frequently so I don't believe it to be a UTI type thing. Any suggestions would be great, we are really struggling with this. Thanks! ???

Hey Melanie! Welcome. You might get more responses if you posted your behavior questions on the Behavior & Training board. But for now....PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do what you need to do to prevent Diesel from running out of the yard or house and attacking/harassing other dogs. There is NOOOOOOO room for error with this breed. Your neighbors are getting miffed for GOOD reason. You don't want a lawsuit on your hands, with Diesel confiscated and jailed do you? Sorry if I seem pushy or rude, but consider this tough love! Your dog's well being is my prime concern!

Thanks and we are being very careful! I know this does not help promote the breed positively. I feel really bad about that. Wasn't expecting him to be aggressive for no reason. We have a big family and we are very social and he loves cats. But other than Vinny he has had minimal exposure to other dogs. We tried getting him together with friends dogs when we first noticed his aggression, but it just didn't go very well. I will post on the behavior part of the forum. Thanks again....

Hi! Welcome!! Sorry 2 hear about the prob's ur having w/Diesel. I would definitely recommend finding a trainer in ur area that u really like and enroll him in some classes! This is a breed that MUST have obedience training, the sooner, the better!!! Good luck and I hope it all works out!
