I AM NOT SAYING ITS GOOD NEWS, I AM JUST FORWARDING THE EMAIL I GOT..

Good news for pets in California. San Mateo, Santa Rosa, San Bernadino, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara and a few other counties already had this ordinance, but now it is officially illegal to have an intact pet (not spayed/neutered) unless you obtain a special license. While the licenses are easy to get and free, it's still a step in the right direction. I did a lot of calling and letter writing and blogging for this one and it just passed about an hour ago. Can you believe that CA alone kills 500,000 pets annually and house 1 million? It's so crazy that people would ever try to breed anything in this climate. Not that this will deter them, but at least it's a positive move.

Also, Daisy was featured (just the enclosed photo) in the most recent Cottage Hospital newsletter which goes out to 400 volunteers, so that's cool. Here's a copy of it with the original picture, in color.

Good news?
This is TERRIBLE news.
Mandatory s/n results in MORE animals being killed, and increases the burden on people. Those are the FACTS.
Wishful thinking about how all animals should be s/n, because, does not negate these FACTS.
It's a dreadful dreadful (proposed) law and should be fought by every Californian.
