We've been holding out on introducing these ladies until we were able to get them into our program. Now, it's time to share!
Two Saturdays ago, we received an email:
Needless to say, we were alarmed! We called Marlena up and got more information. The white faced girl actually sounded like she was in heat (gotta love people who get their animals fixed before they even get to "experience" a b*tch in heat!) so she gained a reprieve We advised her to bring the dogs to the shelter on Monday and we'd meet her there to make sure our names were next to the girls.
We affectionately dubbed the girls Piper, Phoebe, and Prue from the TV Series - Charmed.
Today, we got to see all three girls! Piper went to her foster home last Saturday. Phoebe went on Thursday and Prue went to a temporary foster home today until a more permanent foster home can be found. You can read more about their evals and such on our blog Help Them Live a Charmed Life
Since the girls had ticks present on intake, we decided to get them in to the vet this morning to test for tick borne diseases. Prue couldn't make it but we should be getting her in next week Piper and Prue are both heartworm positive and lucky Phoebe is heartworm negative. The shelter made a boo boo and got Phoebe and Piper mixed up on the HW tests originally but we got all that straightened out today.
Anywho, we got pictures today and wanted to share
Piper - 29lbs
Piper and Phoebe
Phoebe
Piper and Phoebe - Yes, Piper is older than Phoebe LOL
And now Prue
Darn brindle dogs! Ya can't see 'em well!
And blurry proof of an excited girl
Two Saturdays ago, we received an email:
Dear Alicia,
On my way home yesterday I saw a dog sitting on the side of the road. I keep water, food and a blanket in my car for such times. This time I was on my way back from the grocery store. So I open my back door to get out a slice of cheese and two other dogs immediately came out of the woods and up to me. The other one slowly came over. I easily got all three in the car and brought them home. My husband and I do some rescue work with dogs and cats. We have two kennels with dog houses set up in the yard for that purpose. We also have five dogs and a cat that we rescued (except for one dog) and decided to keep. We cannot keep these dogs. I have attached pictures so you can see how bad they are. The white one is in the worst shape. I am probably going to take her this morning to my vet and have her put to sleep. She can barely move and is bleeding from her rectum. We are feeding them small portions every couple of hours of white rice and shredded chicken. They are not human aggressive but they are dog aggressive. I don’t want to have to take the other two females to the vet and put to sleep also. They can made healthy again. Can you help?
Thank you,
John and Marlena
