Awesome! I have to say, before I brought home my first pit bull (and for a while after) I had to deal with many people, even family members, who were SURE that my pet would brutalize us. I actually lost my sister behind the issue. She told me that if I didn't give away my dog, she didn't wish to be my sister! Well, after years with pit bulls, I am happy to say that my experiences have been 100% positive. My current dog is perhaps the sweetest, most loyal companion that I or my child could ever hope to know!

....and as for my sister, she was not willing to listen to reason or the opinions of experts, and while many many moons have passed since that day, she will still not speak to me. I have tried, but her ignorance is too thick to penetrate. As sad as it is, I won't condemn my loyal dogs for her totally unfounded hatred (she has never had ANY experience, good or bad, with the breed). I can only hope that she's blessed with some sort of wisdom one day...

A lot of us Pit Bull owners have had to deal with similar problems with our families. A friend and I just yesterday were discussing how deep the prjudice/fear/hate of the breed runs in some people. It is akin to a religious/moral belief it seems - and not easily changed.

Hey Bullymama25, Your sister's behavior is egregious and I'm sorry she has chosen to push u away...I can see my brother doing the same thing to me possibly when I get my APBT but fine then...That is on them, I say...and good for you for doing what you wanted and not listening to the ignorance of others... We can't choose our family but thank god we can choose our dogs and our friends

Bullymama hasn't been here in a while, sadly. Last I heard she was in the middle of a high-risk pregnancy and when she got closer to her due date, she stopped visiting the forum.

once againa anather demonstration of how the media has completly destroyed the public's trust in the APBT.
i still get people ask me what my dog's breed is and tell me how freindly they are. i tell them they are american pitbull terriers. they tell me cant be why they are so small and dont have huge heads! haha
