"Yes they make excellent pets, yes they are very lovable creatures and make wonderful couch potatoes.. but they are warriors and I believe truly happy in combat.. yes they can be happy doing other things but their true calling is combat."AND "...more American Pit Bull Terriers should be killed instead of being adopted out."The thing that gets me about this person's blog (besides the obvious complete lack of understanding of his own breed), is instead of looking to address the people side of things, his solution is to 'kill more Pit Bulls'. Not advocate for s/n. Not reach out to shelters, the public, etc to address responsibility and the breed; not work for legislation that holds humans accountable; not cautioning against buying or adopting a breed without proper research. No. KILL MORE PIT BULLS, he says. And while I can appreciate fully the idea that too many dogs in the wrong hands are a big problem for this breed, and I WOULD rather see dogs euth'd than end up in bad homes, I do NOT appreciate the angle (that I've seen many breed 'fanciers' take) that says RESCUE is the culprit, the bad guy, the reason for all this breed's problems. The puppy peddling dog fighters? The BYB's? Nah. It is RESCUE that's to blame! www.pitbull-chat.com/blog.php?b=352

Come, come now ppl. I don't see what's so upsetting... Every person has the right to be wrong. And I have the right to plead temporary insanity if I ever met this guy.

I went through and read it, and all the comments, and I get the sneaky feeling this guy is a breeder? She bad mouths rescues and shelters.. and while it seems, later on, he is mostly talking about All Breed rescues, he has the potential to turn lots of folks off of rescue, and that always strikes a bone with me. The only reason someone would try to turn people away from ALL rescues, is because theyw ant to be the source for sales. That's just my thoughts on it.

I wouldn't put it past people. Another thing to add to my list of research if I ever went through a breeder.

He might be a breeder, Garland. I don't actually know anything about him, but I've read his posts/blogs and they all have the same general vibe as the blog posted above.
He also says he 'believes' that the dogs that end up in papers attacking people come from rescues. Believing something doesn't make it so. I think this is a bias that he has and in order to prove his point, he's putting an unproven idea forth: he 'believes' rescue dogs are the ones doing the attacking, therefore instead of promoting rescue, we should kill more Pit Bulls. The subtext is: only breeders should be placing dogs into homes, and only people who understand that "Pit Bulls love to fight" should own them (i.e. harken back to the old school).
Where does he think the dogs in rescue come from, to begin with?
Like I said above, the general sentiment that poorly placed dogs are a problem is correct. But the attitude he has, his beliefs about the breed's temperament, and his solution (kill more Pit Bulls), is just really damaging I think.

Well that my stomach currdle!!!!! I have had dogs from breeders of quality, BYB's, Rescue, you name it I've probably had a dog from it. And I'm happy to report the rescue dog was just as great as the dog from a quality breeder. In the right hands all dogs have potential to do wonders for there breed.
This guy is just a self proclaimed know it all and a duche bag!

This guy is just a self proclaimed know it all and a duche bag! Agreed!!! But to be honest, I have had more health problems with dogs that were purchased from reputable breeders! Boomer's breeder isn’t bad and Boomer (2 years old) has hip dysplasia. My parent’s Cocker Spaniel was purchased from a breeder and she CONSTANTLY has kidney stones! She has had 2 surgeries and is on a special food (VERY expensive). I grew up with 2 dogs that we adopted from shelters (One being a Mastiff mix) and neither of them had the health problems the purebred purchased dogs! (They also both lived a LONG time for being big dogs Buck (Mastiff mix) lived 14 years, and Luke (Doberman mix) lived 15 years!) That’s just my experience though!

WOW that is a long time for such big boys.
I agree 100% Amy Jo that is the one thing I've noticed our Boxer girl came from a Pediagreed breeder and she had serious healt problem we spent more money in vet bills on her than all of our dogs combined. She eventusl died from cancer at only 3 yrs old she had arough short life.
