Seeker was given as a gift as a puppy, and sadly, he was never wanted by anyone in his family. He was passed around from family member to family member as a pup, until he reached maturity, at which point he was put on a chain in the backyard. Finally, 5 years later, his caretaker decided it was time to find him a suitable, loving home. Now, Seeker is THRIVING inside the home in foster care, and enjoys cuddling with his pit bull foster sis & his little JRT brother. Now all he needs is a forever home to spoil him as much as his foster family.
Seeker loves him some care rides!!
Indy is perhaps the perfect dog. His foster mom thinks he’s a boxer/pit mix and part superhero. This handsome, friendly boy was saved from the Temple of Doom (high-kill shelter) and since that time has charmed everyone he’s met. Indy does well with other dogs and LOVES people. He was introduced slowly to small dogs and cats, and he continues to behave himself beautifully with the both of them. Indy is a very special guy and a complete bundle of love. He is a major face licker! His tongue is almost always out of his mouth! Dr. Jones has high energy but is very intelligent and should be easy to train. Indy is a big boy and will need an active lifestyle and lots of playtime. Indy has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is HW negative. He comes fully vetted and ready to love his new family. Take a look in his big brown eyes and he will melt your heart.
Happy is a pit bull mix, and her ‘mix’ makes her especially beautiful, with her fringed tail, and thick, soft fur. Her coat & her coloring are gorgeous, but at one point in her life, poor Happy lost one of her ears—and whether is was due to an attempted ear-cropping, or a brush with another animal, we’ll never know. However, whatever Happy has been through, it has not broken her spirit, which is why she earned her very simple, yet very descriptive name. Happy loves affection, and would gladly be your lap doggie if you so choose. She also loves to sniff the great outdoors, more than the average pit bull, which leads us to wonder—is she mixed with a hunting breed? We are told she does like to chase rabbits and squirrels, but she is wonderfully mannered with small dogs and also many large dogs too, only getting grumpy if food or affection is present and they try to impose. Who can blame her for wanting to be a princess? Although her former caretaker and veterinarian never mentioned it, we believe Happy to be at least partially hearing impaired. She is very attuned to smells and sight, and you sometimes have to get her attention in other ways than calling her to you. This is not much different form many stubborn dogs we have known! We are quite fond of Happy ourselves, and only wish we did not have such a full house. She deserves a very special home that gives her all the love and attention that a princess requires. She could live happily in a home with another male dog or two, as long as she got some one-on-one time with her favorite thing in the world—you!! Happy is house & crate trained, and will sit for a treat. She is so very smart, and doesn’t need her ears a bit—she has a gigantic heart to guide her.
Delilah started life as a stray in Winston-Salem. She was picked up by a Good Samaritan, and soon we agreed to bring her into our rescue. Before we could reach her, Delilah promptly got loose – again! She was found through the website Lassie Come Home (Lassie Come Home--NC), and finally we had her safe in foster care! Delilah is a young genius that is ready to please you! After just five minutes of working with her for the first time, she began to learn sit, down - even shake & roll over! Delilah loves to play with dogs, so she would prefer an opposite sex playmate in her new home that doesn’t mind her activity level! Given her playful energy, she is surprisingly great with kids. We love her motivation for all things food, which will carry her far with a forever home that is willing to train her! With a little leash work around other dogs, she could be a doggie sports star. Delilah also loves chewing on bones, tennis balls, & tug toys. She isn't fond of being crated, but will settle after a few minutes and will stay in it during the work day if needed, without making a mess. She is housetrained & uses the bathroom quickly outside during her potty breaks. All this, and she's cute as a button too! What more could you ask for?
Diesel is a very sweet dog who likes to give lots of kisses and snuggle up close. Diesel hasn’t had a lot of good role models, but is desperately trying very hard! He's new to being an inside dog, but is doing a good job of learning not to potty in the house as well as basic manners and obedience. Diesel is great on the leash, and his current foster parents are trying to teach him about the crate, but he still thinks it’s awfully scary in there! He has lots of energy and likes to play, so Diesel would love a backyard to spend time in. Like to travel? He's an awesome car dog too. Diesel would do best as the only dog in the house so he could have all the attention, and wouldn’t have to share belly rubs. He has lots of love to give, and a tail that never stops wagging. Diesel needs a family that can give him the life he deserves!
Buddy is a public ambassador for his breed, and we try to take this social boy everywhere we go. Buddy loves every dog that lets him love them, from the smallest Chihuahua, to the tallest Great Dane, to the furriest Great Pyrenees. Buddy has met them all, and given them each kisses. He loves children and people of all ages, is housetrained, and knows how to ‘sit’. Buddy has just one fear: being away from the people he loves! He needs a home that will be patient and understand his separation anxiety, a common behavior issue when a dog has a past full of abandonment. Buddy is not destructive; only nervous, and is much more comfortable having the run of the house than being confined in his crate. Buddy loves car rides, but of course wants to be right next to you riding shotgun! This dog could go everywhere with his new family, and because he is a friendly fido, you would be glad to have him as your constant companion! Buddy is young & active, so his ideal home will be one that can give him some of the exercise he needs, or have a doggie playmate that matches his activity level. We love this guy; never was the name ‘Buddy’ more appropriate for a dog!
Wudgie, formerly Sakwudge, was pulled from Orange County Animal Services after he came in with animal control. His owner was located, but she never came to reclaim him. I had met Wudgie back when he came in the low-cost spay/neuter clinic at Paws4Ever for his neuter, and we thought it was a shame to let this young, healthy dog sit at the shelter. The more we get to know Wudgie, the more we love. He is a joy to be around, so happy and full of life. He prances everywhere he goes, and loves to play with dogs, toys, and people. He is housetrained and crate-trained, loves giving kisses and hugs, although we do our best not to encourage when he does his jumping up! Any family would be lucky to have Wudgie, they just better be ready to have his joy for life!!
Starla has been passed around from foster home to foster home, with her origins traced back to the Wake County shelter, from where she was originally pulled. The problem is most people who foster pit bulls are already pet lovers, and poor Miss Starla doesn’t like other animals, especially cats! She will get along with the occasional nonchalant dog her size that could care less about her presence, but other than that, she needs to be an only pet. If not for her disdain for other animals, Starla is a perfect companion. She is one of the quietest dogs we’ve ever encountered while spending time in her crate, and she walks very gently on her leash despite her large size. She also loves to cuddle, play with her squeaky tennis ball, and receive rubs & massages all over her big blue body. From her personality and easygoing way, we also expect she would do great with children. Starla would be a great companion for a family or single person looking for just one pet to spend their days with, and would even be suitable for an elderly couple or person. We are really looking forward to the day when Starla finally reaches the place she calls home.
