OK About three weeks ago, I was contacted by a woman named Susan. She is a volunteer for MAESSR, and lives in Maryland. She told me she was helping a woman named Edith who is 75 years old. Edith has a small rescue, but ends up keeping all of her rescues, and she aquired a beautiful blue/fawn, red nose, cropped eared, 80 pound pit bull who she cannot handle. She asked if I could take him in, and of course I said YES! He looked amazing! She then offered to give me a 500.00 donation for all of my help, since I was the only one getting back to her.
Week one goes by, Edith couldnt get the dog here, week two, she is sick, third week.....Well this is what happed.... (taken from one of my e-mails):
OK. I am copying this e-mail to some of my volunteers because they all will want to know what happened with this wonderful dog.
Edith called me yesterday to tell me she was going to come by my house and drop off supplies, then come up again Wednesday to bring up the dog. I told her it is a waste of time and money to come up twice, and that I was going to be home, but Sharon my foster home mom had plans, but that was OK because I wanted to spend some alone time with Mischief to get to know him. She agreed to this. I told her again that it will just be me she is meeting and she was fine with it.
Today I called her in the morning to see if she was on her way. She said yes. She asked me if Sharon was going to be there. I said no, I told you before that she has prior engagements and that I was going to meet up with her later. Edith said she wants to meet Sharon so she will just make another trip with Mischief on Wednesday. I told her I would call her back, I would call Sharon and see what I can do.
SO Sharon made arrangements and came to my house which is about 40 minutes from where she lives. She dropped her plans and came over to my place. We waited and waited and finally Mischief arrived. Stunning as usual. It was love at fist site We talked for TWO HOURS! I showed Edith and her friend Michelle pictures, I gave her a copy of my adoption forms and application. She unloaded a bunch of blankets and toys and bowls and treat onto my porch. I know Edith is very attached, so we were very patient with her. She mentioned that her one neighbor really wants Mischief. I asked her why she brought him here then? She did not have an answer? I told her that Sharon was very interested in him, and if it worked out she wanted to keep him. She ignored me. She then wanted us to take her to meet Sharons children, which were an hour away at a birthday party. We told her we couldn't do that.
We started to act like we were heading out, I had my purse and keys, I told her we were going to take him to the pet store. She got his favorite toys out of the car and put them on my porch. Michelle helped Sharon and I load him into my car, and then Edith said NO I want him in my car! Michelle tried to tell her it was OK and that we were taking him to buy him new toys and such. Edith said no, I am taking him home. She then talked about the other man that lived by her, and how it would be a great home because she could still see the dog. Michelle was PISSED! She took this drive with Edith and all for nothing.
NEEDLESS to say, Mischief is back with Edith on the way back to Maryland. I wish Mischief could have stayed! It is a shame. I am sorry everyone has wasted their time and effort, and quite frankly I am done dealing with this woman! It is a shame, he would have had a wonderful home with a certified vet tech that is very breed savvy! He would had made a great poster dog for us! Such a wonderful boy!
Susan please call me when you get a chance, as I have lost your number!
