I just looked into that. Waiting to see what other people here say about it. I'd like to know if BBR would attend?
I have to say I did not like the info for this event. It came off as a flashy way to raise money, or what not, by having a lot of "short and wide" bully kennels. Not what the true APBT should be. Then again, it does just say "Bully" Expo.
That, and the fact that they welcome EVERYONE to bring their own dogs if they want to- and charge an extra $10 emission fee per dog on top of the $15 per person. Do you know how irresponsible that sounds? You could end up with all these irresponsible dog owners with their "bully breed/s", who could also be DA, walking around each other in a closed enviroment? Talk about an accident waiting to happen.
When the people in Atl host their National Pit Bull Awareness Day in the park, they make sure you know NOT to bring your own dog/s for that very reason. There are people with booths who have their dogs representing the breed, but it's not some free for all where anyones dog can attend b/c that's an accident waiting to happen.
Idk, like I said I'm waiting to see what other people here with more knowledge have to say about it since this is the first time I've ever heard of it.

Yeah, "bully shows" aren't promoted on this forum because they typically advertise irresponsible breeding of 'short n wide'/bully-style dogs that are ending up in shelters like crazy.

It is equal to dog parks where pitbulls should not be... if you know your dog is great around other dogs, fine; maybe but those who bring their dogs and they are not friendly dogs will ruin it for all of us... always safer to leave the dogs home while you can enjoy the show, the ones hosting the show are responsible for the dogs they represent on the grounds. regardless I dont trust those who ask for outrageous fees, if they care about the breeds survival , it should be free admission from the heart and not from their hungry pockets.

I've been trying to get ahold of the contact for the event to see if we could get a comp booth, but they aren't writing back. SO I think that Richard and I are going to go and pay entry fees, and bring one dog between us who is solid, and just wear our BBR vol shirts and have brochures and info with us. It'll be my first time attending one of the Bully shows, but I thought it was about time, since there are typically about three to four or more a year in this area. I'd hate for some newbie bully owner to go there looking for a dog or trying to figure out if this was the breed for them, and then only have access to bad info, so I am going to make an effort to be there. I'd love it if other forum member showed up, but I'd be careful abou tbringing dogs. This is a high crime and high fight area, so I'd recommend a two person per dog safety, so that your dog is never unattended and you always have two sets of eyes to look out for any bad owners with their DA dogs at an event like this.

I wouldn't bring Lo or Ergo to any kind of dog event where they would be around a ton of irresponsible dog owners and their dogs. Ken and I were talking about taking the day off to go. After hearing previous negative feedback I told him we weren't going, but if you're going to be there then I'll ask and see if he's still up to it.

A little heads up. I talked to Manny from SEmper Fi Kennels earlier today, and I really enjoyed talking to him. He's what came out of it: 1) All BBR reps/vols will get free passes to enter. 2) They talked about it, and while the raffle was originally to benefit Villalobos, they realized that they already have their own show and lots of PR, so they'd rather keep their $$ local. They'll take the proceeds from the raffle, and buy supplies to donoate to US!!! 3) We'll get about ten minutes on the mike to tell everyone who we are and what we do, so that we can all work together in the future!!
He said he knew he was part of the problem, even if ho only produced one litter a yar, and would love to hear what we had to say and hoped the other breeders would be receptive to us.

Updates from this. 1) We will be receiving approx $350 dollars worth of goods. Manny asked that we get together a list of things we needed, so what do you want me to ask for? Our next food shipment isn't until March/April. We have 3 bags left. Not many ppl take us up on this offer, and when we do supply them with it, they hardly ever ask for refills. So, I don't know that we need to ask for much of that, since we will be receiving a donation in a few months, but we may want to ask for a bit. 2) I was approached by a breeder after I spoke and they asked if we had a sponsor. I said no. She said they host lots of shows in the North AL area and would like to sponsor us because they raise lots of money. Am waiting to hear from her. I was also approached by a group of two kennels that are actiive in Memphis in fighting BSL/ BSL awareness. They asked for my email addy so we could work together in the future and share resources for this. 3) There will be a few more of these in the Bham area, and Manny said we'd be welcome to attend, and possibly get a comped booth (we did this time once we were there). 4) I've decided to post the pics to my personal FB as I don't want them to be something that is loaded as an album on our page, incase someone doesn't bother to read my "this is why we went" disclaimer. I don't know that I can do more than three of these a year. It def felt like work, because it was so stressful, instead of feeling like fun, like our normal events do. The amount of puppies and gross American Bully dogs there was just overwhelming. In addition, everyone treated their dogs like accessories, and not like pets, and it made me so sad at the end of the thing, that I cried in my car. I only saw a few people actually showing affection to their dogs. There were only like 6 regular collars in the building. Most everything else was choke, chain or horridly spikey. I also saw a collar adorned with bullets, although I didn't get a picture of it. In conclusion, I am greatful for the contacts we made, and the exposure we received, and the donations that this resulted/will result in. And even though I sat in my car and cried, I did agree to attend the next event, because I feel like I have to take my hits for the team, and our dogs need those donations and we need the help in fighting BSL and awareness. www.facebook.com/editphoto.php?aid=190071&success=4&failure=0#/album.php?aid=190071&id=508571415
