I’ve been fostering a 2 year old blue pit bull since August. He was found by my boyfriend’s father abandoned in the apartment building where he works. The tenant had been arrested and left the dog alone. He was very underweight and scared. My boyfriend and I took him in because…well, we are animal people. “Legend” has a great temperament – kind of goofy and totally lovable. He’s 100% housebroken and leash trained. Current on shots. Gets along well with other dogs and children. We have not discovered any aggression whatsoever. I’ve been trying to find a permanent placement for him but have not been successful and need help. His tragic flaw is that he has separation anxiety and can’t be left alone without damaging something – shoes, lamp cords, rummaging through the garbage, etc. I believe that he can be crate trained but since I’m technically not allowed to have a dog in my apartment, I’m not able to leave him alone even for a short time to get him used to the crate and being alone because he cries and wails. I need to find another placement for him as I am out of ideas and afraid that my landlord will find out or that I’ll never have a social life again since I have to take the dog with me everywhere. I was hoping you’d have some suggestions or possibly have a foster/home for him. I’m out of ideas and getting desperate. There have been occasions where I’ve left him at our shelter (where I work) and he doesn’t kennel well at all – stops eating, gets diarrhea, etc. so I’ve continued to foster him. I’ve tried everything that I normally recommend to others in my situation and I’m hoping that you can help.
